Okay, Yoshinori Kobayashi, is suing the Japanese Government because he believes this law is an attempt to make it even more impossible for a woman to become the Empress of Japan. But he's also suing for damages because of it, and he's also a denier of both comfort women and the Nanjing massacre.

Again, have we considered that time travel may in fact be possible, that there have been agents sent back in time to assassinate history's greatest villains before they could become so, but those agents are working from such a fragmented historical record that they keep killing the wrong Kennedy?!

RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

Obviously he was iconic as Chekov, but if you've never watched Babylon 5 then you've missed Walter Koenig giving us one of the greatest villains in Science Fiction television when he played Alfred Bester. RIP

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

In 2013, Matt Yglesias published 'Different Places Have Different Safety Rules and That’s OK' so soon after the Rana Plaza collapse that he lists 87 people having died from it in the article. The final confirmed death toll was 1,134 people. He's such a piece of shit.

I think this becomes quite understandable in the context of an international fascist movement that has swept much of the planet in a decade, with horrifying and very extreme consequences for the entire species

Three years ago, my dad said that all fish are the same shape. Out of spite, I decided to draw all 478 families of bony fish listed in Nelson 2016. There's still some stuff I need to edit and some fish I want to redraw but, after 985 days, I finished my big dumb fish project last night.

Nobody asked any Palestinians what they think, because our politicians and media outlets very plainly do not regard Palestinians as people. They would not have behaved the way they have for many years now, if they view Palestinians as proper human beings with rights, rather than as orcs or zombies.

It's good to have PSAs teaching kids that they can say no when an adult wants to touch them in a way they don't want to be touched, even something innocent like a hug. The only people who'd be upset by a PSA like that are people who don't want kids to be able to control who touches them.

Cutting red tape impoverishes and kills people, you fucks!

Chancellor to pitch budget at wealth creators – UK politics live

theguardian.comChancellor to pitch budget at wealth creators – UK politics liveJohn Healey is expected to cut red tape requirements, particularly for smaller businesses Good morning. A week today John Healey, the chancellor, will be doing a media round defending the budget he is presenting on Wednesday next week. Ahead of that, he has given an interview to Patrick Maguire from the Times. As you would expect, there is no real detail in it about the measures he will be presenting to MPs. But the big picture message is very clear – and quite surprising, coming from a chancellor serving a PM who in some respects is steering left compared to his predecessor. Healey says that he wants to be on the side of bloody-minded entrepreneurs who make a profit, he acknowledges that government has made their life harder over the past two years, and he suggests that cutting the β€˜cost of living’ for business is just as important as cutting the real cost of living for families. In the quote that gives the Times its splash headline, Healey says: I want to be a chancellor who backs business in Britain making a profit, and those entrepreneurs who, in the end, are the ones who challenge the status quo, come up with innovative ideas and are trying, some of them through sheer bloody-mindedness, to keep going through these sorts of pressures … If you’re not making a profit, you’ve got nothing to put back into the business. And for the people who start up these businesses, the ones who really thrive and grow, they have to make a profit β€” and they will be much more inclined to put it back into their own business. But we want it to grow here and stay here. If you talk to any of the businesses that have come in and have either had one-to-ones or round tables with me, I have recognised that in recent times there’s been a lot of pressure: employment law, regulation, tax, input costs, supply chains. And so when I talk about the cost of business, and recognising that in the same way as we’re recognising the cost of living pressures, I’m conscious of that as I go into the budget for both businesses and households. [Healey] is expected to use the budget to make significant cuts to regulation on businesses that one senior Treasury source described as β€œthe sludge choking firms”. Reporting requirements are likely to be abolished for many smaller enterprises, The Times understands. Continue reading...

At least 12 hours after airing and this is not on the homepages of the BBC or the Guardian. How is this not news??? You can understand the Telegraph or the Mail burying it on page 1488 but how are you NOT writing this up??

The IPCC is pretty clear that if we want a safe climate there can be no new oil and gas. But every country thinks it has some special reason for why it should be the exception

"I don't believe this is a betrayal, this is a pragmatic decision" Well, luckily, betrayals have never been justified by appealing to pragmatism before. There are no examples of that in history.

On going ahead with Jackdaw "@zackpolanski.bsky.social.. says this is a betrayal of all of our futures.. do you really think this is the right thing to do?" Miatta Fahnbulleh: "Well look I do.. we have seen that climate change is here.. heat waves, wild fires, drought.. its a pragmatic decision"

The UK at the moment is a perfect example of what happens when you uncritically support and vote for a party all under the guise of β€œvote now, push them later”. And if you don’t understand that, you have no reason or right to scold others for their feelings around voting for their oppressors.

The most interesting thing about a crackdown on people listening to music without headphones on public transport is that trans people are going to die because of the Government's policy on hospital treatment.
