I cannot believe how absolute shit every single integrated (slack, discord, bkuesky, etc) gif provider is. I’m old. Not @blowdart old - my god that sounds awful - but I know how search operators work. Everyone one of them sucks ass.

Pope Leo to Patrons of the Arts for Vatican Museums: “In an age dominated by technology, in which efficiency and profit often take precedence, it is so important that we continue to cultivate a spirit of contemplation and allow time and space for beauty.”

a weird inversion with LLMs is the models improve faster than the tinkerers when i see people with custom workflows and setups they're all addressing problems that don't exist anymore the person naively using vanilla codex is more likely to be experiencing state of the art

I've heard people make claims that AI would lead to a new Renaissance, but I didn't imagine it'd happen like this:

seeing a lot of familiar faces pop over there for the first time in a while we missed you fam please pull through or I'll keep swinging by here even tho it's kinda mid

Increasingly concerned re: people offloading vital cognitive processes by using GIF replies. Expressing snark with words is a core part of being human, don't let some GIF picker widget a startup preloaded with clips of mid range TV shows take that from you!

I only just found this post by @joehellerstein.bsky.social from February on how waiting, ordering, and commitment in distributed systems are all ways of looking at the same underlying idea: coordination. Good post, matches with how I think about it jhellerstein.github.io/blog/three-s...

jhellerstein.github.ioThree Lenses on CoordinationThree Sets of Specs (for Staying in Spec) In the last post I talked about how systems formalisms are like sculpting with a chisel: we remove behaviors we don’t…

I have been alluding to a "relationship canary" irl conversations for years. There have been several situations where such a document would have been incredibly useful. maybe it's time to post one 🤔

jokes on you I don't have a gf 😛

while it would cut to the point quickly & clearly, I am not exactly sure how mad a woman might get if I provided a link to a brief on my website when the conversation (yet again) shifts towards any sort of a potential future together 😅

Also, Cardinal Broglio told Catholics in the military they should refuse immoral as well as illegal orders: www.ncronline.org/opinion/edit... I am really, really pleased that Leo is rapidly yeeting the bishops who forget there are *seven* Catholic social teachings.

ncronline.orgEditorial: The church speaks out. A new era has dawned. It is a new level of opposition for American cardinals to formally question the fundamental morality of an administration's engagement with the world.

ceding AI to the right is a generational poltical mistake and bullying LLM researchers off bluesky to cook their brains in twitter racism is a self defeating and foolish act from well meaning people deluding themselves into thinking intentional ignorance is a valid form of critique and resistance

the activist in me agrees with this but the academic in me see it as a massive undertaking difficult to put in my priorities list at moment

i have said this before but if you are actually interested in influencing people beyond a narrow circle of too-online journalists you will be making direct to camera videos on tiktok, instagram and youtube. if you primarily post on text-based social media then you're just dicking around.
