Trump has only allowed the transfer of 24 patriot missiles to Ukraine over the last 3 months. That is only 2 interceptors a week. Rather than ending patriot deliveries, Trump is sending a tiny amount so people can't complain he stopped while 95% of Russia's missiles still get to hit their targets.

The "poor Russian conscripts" are actually, in the overwhelming majority, not conscripts at all, but people who go to war to murder Ukrainians for money. "They have no choice" - what bullshit. Going to jail instead of bombing a playground full of children is a choice. Emigration is a choice.

It's interesting that Musk cares more about Russian personnel than the Russian government does. After all, the most certain way for the killing to stop is for Russians to exit Ukraine. Of course this simple calculus is beyond the reasoning ability of the world's richest dumbass.

❗️Elon Musk says “the endless slaughter of Ukrainians and Russians must stop” and called for sympathy for Russian conscripts. “Those kids have no choice but to fight and die in drone strikes,” he wrote. His remarks come amid an ongoing dispute over restrictions on Starlink and its use by Ukraine.

Trump learned at his father's feet but unlike Fred, Donald is devoid of character, sense or courage. Sadly, this absence of character and personality is central to his appeal to millions of voters who can paint in the empty Trump outline with whatever (self portrait) they can imagine

Trump follows after transgressive characters like Putin or Roy Cohn the same reason a dog follows a garbage truck- something tasty might fall off. Meanwhile a real, proven political powerhouse personality is standing right there ... how tasty can the garbage be?

This is the kind of win-win-win-win outcome that a real statesman like a Bismarck would pursue. Obviously, Trump is no statesman but Putin? Right now, reserves stuck in Belgian banks are worth more than any claims Putin might have against Ukraine. Reserve are real. Political claims are just lies.

One more thing: Questions arise about Putin's 'hold' on Trump. It's not complicated: Trump has always had strong attachments to personally powerful, transgressive characters starting w/ his father, Fred. Including Roy Cohn. mob associates John Cody & Joey Merlino, Jeffery Epstein and now Putin.

- Europe would gain enough time to improve its security posture. - World energy and fertilizer markets would stabilize. - Unfrozen reserves would not be considered 'cash infusion' as reserves are already Russian.

- Trump would have a legit claim for a Nobel prize. He would also gain some political breathing space which might allow him to finish his term, something that is not guaranteed right now. - Witkoff and Kushner could do multi-billion paid influence deals with Putin.

It's impossible to know what Putin promised Trump in exchange for both 'diesel deal' and Iran assault but it is likely lies. Putin only hurts Trump candidates' chances in upcoming elections. Ukraine has knocked out many of Putin's propaganda bots. Iran war is loser for everyone incl/ Israel.

It would have been a far better deal for all concerned including Putin if Trump had convinced Russia to withdraw from Ukraine in exchange for frozen Russian reserves. - Russia would win b/c it would be free of accelerating costs of its war. - Ukraine would regain its territories

Going back to Petr Pavel's remarks, a ceasefire is the LAST thing Putin wants. He's been adamantly against any pause since 2022. Such a pause would create uncertainty on Russia's teetering front line. It's better to beg Trump for help. After all, Trump is a moron & will do whatever Putin asks.

Neither Trump nor Putin consider the unintended consequences. Any hard currency flowing into Russia will flow right out again. After all there is little to nothing a Russian can buy in Russia with dollars. The only reason to HOLD dollars in Russia is currency speculation bsky.app/profile/econ...

steve from virginia@econundertow.bsky.social

Another unintended consequence for the Russian side is the new stream of dollars heading Moscow's way. The reason for the diesel deal is not to lower prices in the US but to give the Kremlin a cash infusion. However, the only thing dollars are good for in Russia is to speed them out of the country

Ukraine's strikes on Russian fuel supply are obviously quite effective otherwise there would be no need for a Trump bailout. And why not bail out Putin? He's beenTrump's little helper since before Trump glided down that golden escalator. Now Putin has a cash flow problem.

It's not too much of a stretch to consider the US assault on Iran as another favor for Putin, another bailout, aimed at raising fuel prices, to increase hard currency inflows into Russia. This was cancelled by Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries and export terminals. bsky.app/profile/noel...

DniproOsint analysis of satellite imagery shows FP-1 drone strikes damaged key units at Russia’s Salavat refinery on October 8. The affected AVT-4 and AVT-6 units total about 10 million tonnes of annual capacity and provide 100% of primary oil processing. #Russia
