If you want to astound a younger American today, tell them that thirty years ago there was actually a years-long investigation into a president's personal business dealings and, even better, it centered on a real estate venture where he *lost* money.

NEW: The National Sheriffs’ Association(!) puts out a statement saying the Trump admin’s publication, with no feedback first, of a list of Sheriff departments alleged to be sanctuary jurisdictions “violated the core principles of trust, cooperation, and partnership with fellow law enforcement.”

That time I tried an 1930s fan... but it was a bit stronger than expected... ;) I love it when old appliances sound like Spitfire engines. Mind you, plugging it into a much higher voltage network may have helped...

OK, I’m told the feds released Mayor Barka rather than holding him over the weekend on the pretext they couldn’t get him before a judge. I am pleasantly surprised, through I suspect the decision was made on a lower level and that the people who made it may suffer.

Bitterness and cynicism are a form of surrender, when anger at injustice remains but the will to confront it is dulled by resignation. As true warriors, let anger at injustice be bright and righteous, and let it drive us to confront its cause and cast it down.

Critical mass in Congress refers to the minimum number of votes required to pass legislation. Just one "hard pivot to the Constitution" member could literally change the world. Just one "hair on fire," "Democracy is too important," R member of Congress could trigger a few others who need the push.

If guilty people don't have Due Process rights, then innocent people don't have Due Process rights, because we don't know if they're innocent or guilty until we have a trial or hearing.

When a government starts by stripping rights from a vulnerable group, it’s not the end goal—it’s the opening move. What’s tested on the marginalized today is used on everyone else tomorrow.
