Gabrielle Steele ⚔️ Echoes of Chaos out now!

Echoes of Chaos is out today in ebook!! It’s set 200 years after Reborn in Ash but is a separate story. - epic fantasy - empathic bonds - animal companion - prophecies - elemental magic - romance subplot Ignore that the website says pre-order. I’ll update it when I’m properly awake 😅 #BookSky 💙📚🪐

Wait. Labour are starting to do good things?! www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2026/10...

Is it weird to be proud of characters I've created? Especially animal ones? I'm a pantser. I never know what they're going to do. In Echoes of Chaos, Nettle (cat) saves Eryn from some men, and Clover (horse) saves her from a mage. Eryn saves herself too, but damn are her animal companions awesome.

The Song of the Vampire is out now. You should all go buy it so I can keep writing books about a Scottish vampire and his dog. Thanks.

I've made about £16 of royalties selling books this month, which covers one lunch at BristolCon. 😅 My bank account right now:

Tonight! Last call for this and still some hardship ticket prices remaining. If you're not doing something more fun with your Monday evening, why not come along? bibliotta.com/events/outli...

I’ve been followed by some really cool people from cons lately. HI!!!!! 😍

I don’t want to alarm anyone but I’m considering changing my profile photo. I’ve had this one since I got a Bluesky invite and used it elsewhere before then.

I don’t think I’ll ever manage to psych myself up to do karaoke again.

It’s book loading time!!! So many incredible books on sale here. ( yes one of mine too!)

BristolCon!!!!!!!!!

Anyone at bar con? #BristolCon

Why are sick people on the train not masking 😭

Important signalboost for authors.

Person in the seat in front of me is using ChatGPT and has a word doc open. Boo. Booo! (It’s reflecting in the window and hard to miss while I stare out at the rain)

Accidentally used passenger assistance because embarrassingly I read the app wrong and didn’t, in fact, need platform 15 but 5. Got to go in the beepy buggy down a secret road weeeee.

Train departs platform 15. All of the signs stop at platform 14. I’m going on an adventure!

My son’s teacher, at parents evening, told me to look something up on ChatGPT or Gemini. My face while internally yelling, because it was not an appropriate time to berate her about the negative impacts of genAI:

If only the corporate overlords hadn’t ruined them 😞

My husband has committed further sins from beyond the grave and STOLE MY SNACKS.

My husband just said, "Isn't the hero of Sailor Moon Tuxedo Mask?" Look, I know he was joking, Your Honour, but he had to go.

Apparently my husband woke up this morning lying on his front with our cat loafing on his back 😂🐈‍⬛

The latest issue of @bsfa.bsky.social's Fission, came out in June. @karinjr.bsky.social sat with its co-editor, @rickandwrite.bsky.social, to understand what he’s looking for in submissions & to get his take on the landscape for short fiction now. britishfantasysociety.org/ready-for-su...

If you want a signed copy of Echoes of Chaos and can’t make it to any events I’m selling at, don’t forget @portalbookshop.bsky.social have some! They have Reborn in Ash too. the-portal-bookshop.square.site/product/echo... 💙📚🪐

So I kinda spent my “in case of laptop failure” fund on doing cons. And my laptop just gave me the bigger heart attack by repeatedly cutting out. I think it’s just my charger wasn’t in properly, but at the same time, windows never gave me a low battery warning. It could also be it had overheated. 🤞

Me: Yay, opportunities! My ADHD: Nah, let's just forget to reply to people and make ourselves look unprofessional. Me: But couldn't we just... My autism: We've left it too long now and it's too awkward. Let's go hide under a rock.

Quick reminder that a brief review or even just a star rating on Goodreads or Amazon can make a massive difference to a book’s discoverability and makes it easier for readers to trust that a book is worth their time and money. So if you loved Black Doe (or any other book!), please drop it some ⭐️s!

I have a story idea generating spreadsheet (NOT AI!) that I forgot exists. It's basically a madlibs formula that uses lists I made. Maybe I should share a random output sometimes? I liked this one because it has kind of a halloween vibe going on. That library's definitely gonna close.

If anyone wants to review Echoes of Chaos, it's on Netgalley! If we're mutuals, DM me so I know who to approve ❤️ Otherwise, I'm fussy and will only approve people who: a) have links to places where they review b) have reviews for epic fantasy Happy reading! (even if you're not reading this) 💙📚🪐

I still haven’t had to put the heating on. This is weird for Essex in mid October. Rain has made it a bit chilly but that just meant I put a cardigan on.

Lol. Got an email from the SoA's "public affairs" email post membership cancellation. Didn't read it, assume it's the same as from the blog post. I did reply to again admonish them for their position.
