Truly, the most despicable people in the country are in ICE. Times like these I wish hell was real because they deserve to face torment there for eternity. It's extremely hard to watch (more so to hear), but I think it's important to witness.

This is Harrison, New Jersey. You can see one of them literally throw a kid and threaten others. Many of the kids are inconsolable and traumatized. These cowards and their enablers should never, ever live this down.

So, less than a month after a 9/11 anniv. where every MAGA fluffer spent the whole week talking about the tragedy (& regurgitating a bunch of misplaced racism at all vaguely Middle Eastern-seeming brown people), they cheered at Trump's suggestion of Iran "taking out" LA or San Diego.

Am I getting that right?

I've seen others make this point (or something similar to it) before, and I've talked about it on panels before, but I'm not sure I've seen someone land it so perfectly and succinctly as Anand Giridharadas @anandwrites.bsky.social does right here. Wow. Bravo. This has *always* been an issue.

And I love that he's making it while Bill Maher has to sit there and see what an actual thinking person looks and sounds like.

Even at our own local level, despite every township down to the smallest having a general assistance budget, the cities end up catching small-town folks who need help. The small-town cops literally drive unhoused/homeless people to Champaign-Urbana and drop them off.

Here it is, folks. The crux of the issue for these folks. If you do something that they deem unworthy, then anything bad that happens to you is you getting what was coming to you. Nevermind that many of them claim to come from the "judge not lest ye be judged" ethos.

Nah, you're under their judgment and your actions (which they are most likely jealous of) led to your bad outcome, in their eyes. It doesn't matter to them whether things happened beyond your consent, because they are judging you for consenting to anything beyond their boring frame of reference.

This fits a fairly staggering pattern, where "protect the children [from the scary left/gay/trans/etc]" Republicans end up being the ones who are the predators. Like so many things, I guess it's just to throw suspicion/focus elsewhere.
