Parents and advocates rallied outside the hospital after it agreed to pay $8.5 million and keep gender-affirming care closed to minors under a deal with the federal government.

Around 200 parents, trans people, advocates, and allies gathered outside NYU Langone to condemn the hospital’s decision to end gender-affirming care for trans youth and pay $8.5 million following its agreement with the Trump administration’s Department of Justice.

Do note that the NYT push alert tonight is not six *new* hospitals ending gender-affirming medical care for minors. It is the cumulative six since mid-May, the most recent two of which DOJ announced — and I covered at Law Dork — last Friday.

Grateful to all those who showed up for trans healthcare in NYC; and to the great folks at @genderlib.com who have been organizing important protest actions. Our communities will keep showing up. And we will win. Maybe not today, but we are in this for all of us.

If DOJ can extract $8.5m from Langone under bogus False Claims Act assertions relating to gender affirming care then I expect the next Dem admin to extract nothing less than $850 billion from GOP slush fund vendors like Palantir and SpaceX.
