It is so frustrating to me that the internet and all its technologies were developed and yet all corporate โ€œQMSโ€s are just list of word documents (or broken links to vanished ones) with contents that overlap, contradict and are entirely text-based.

Thanks Yannick for a really nicely researched and written article around my PropelAuth package for API. I've spent the last few days making some big modifications to it and completing the API, all of the core and common functionality is now included.

๐Ÿ‘ Use unsplash.com & include attributions to use free, great images whilst giving the photographer some credit. Even better, since you're paying AI to make a bad image, pay unsplash to give you a great one! No commission or referrals here, just sharing a website I love to solve a problem I loathe.

For the love of fuck stop using generated slop images for your social media and blog posts

If your website has multi tenancy that segregates user pools, but shares a (sub)domain and determines tenancy by path/query parameter - know that we and all our password managers hate you.

The stupidest thing wealthy people do is spend all of their money making sure they only ever see other wealthy people. Fucking rots their brains.

๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ On 29 June 1985, European leaders chose a symbol that would stand the test of time. Twelve golden stars in a circle. A powerful symbol of who we are and what we stand for: unity and peace, democracy and solidarity. Today, we celebrate 40 years of our common flag.

I was flying once and drinking a cup of tea, I looked out the window and just thought โ€œwhy am I calm, like why are we all calm? All sat here pretending this is perfectly normal sitting and having tea with nothing but air under us for 30,000ftโ€ and then went back to staring at the clouds.

@fastmail.com thereโ€™s plenty of people looking for ethical alternatives to O365/Google Workspace. Any thoughts on rounding out your features towards that? Cloud storage with sync and oauth2/saml might be enough IMHO

Anyone trying to improve public/active transport to reduce car dependency will be told they โ€œdonโ€™t care about low income families who need cars.โ€ Low income families arenโ€™t the ones driving, but they are the ones being killed by cars. We need more safe and affordable car-free ways to get around.

A damning pair of charts. People on lowest incomes own FIVE TIMES fewer cars than the richest do. Meanwhile kids in most deprived areas are FIVE TIMES more likely to be injured by cars.

A HISTORIC MILESTONE: For the first time, solar power generated more electricity globally than nuclear, making it the worldโ€™s 4th largest power source. In just 5 years, solar output nearly tripledโ€”from 79 TWh (Apr 2020) to 233 TWh (Apr 2025). The energy transition is speeding up. @ember-energy.org

I did some vibe coding, it was an interesting experience. On the one hand, there's definitely capability there that is exceptional. When it gets it right, it extrapolates from your description and turns out something banging in a minute, that would take a developer hours+

But when it gets it wrong, it's just a mess. Because you didn't code it, you're sort of dependent on it to help fix the mess. Which is big. And because you didn't code it, it's hard to make changes. You have to familiarise yourself anyway. It might have even brought in new tech you have to learn.

Also it's expensive. I ran up against limits and paid a lot to do a few hours work. So I looked into what it would take to host yourself. Just for today's good models, you'd need 8 GPUs. EIGHT GPUS. Otherwise it's just slow and stupid. Like holey money we're cooked.

Siri knows me so well, especially with an Apple Watch. I was hopeful when I asked "Siri, why do I have a migraine?". Like "you slept in this morning and you're probably dehydrated. Start there". I was disappointed when it couldn't help. It didn't like being called useless. They had code for that.

At what point did society decide that milk bottles shouldnโ€™t be stored on their sides? Like especially milk, which quickly deteriorates into a lurking smell.

There is a bird near my home which sounds exactly like the dying AirTag battery noise. Further proof we're living in a simulation and that simulation is A/B testing for hell.

I too have switched a ChatGPT subscription for an Ultimate independent search + AI subscription. It's a bit clunky on Safari due to default search restrictions, but totally workable. Or use Orion or Firefox or whatever.

My first apartment in 1994 was $350/month. Adjusting for inflation, that apartment should now rent for $744/month. It actually rents for $1500. Greed and inflation are hurting the kids, not their Starbucks lattes.
