South of Midnight is packed with dark, gothic folklore you probably shouldn’t go digging into. Haints, boo hags, mythical creatures... All lurking in the shadows. Oh! it’s 30% off on Steam. Just saying. 👀 #SouthOfMidnight #Halloween #SouthernGothic #Folklore #IndieDev

Let us do without soldiers. The joy built upon successful slaughter is not the right kind of joy; it will not do; it is fearful and it is trivial.

We tried "everyone is entitled to an opinion" for three straight decades and all we have to show for it is four thousand cases of measles and a death cult running the government. It's time for people who don't know what they're talking about to shut the fuck up.

BioWare made games for people in an industry that often reduced them to less. I don’t think this business is interested in people anymore

At this point the only sensible conclusion is that the games industry is doing great but the desperate greed of capitalism keeps murdering us

the corpos already know that ai destroys its source. yknow how we call some questions 'thought terminating?' ai destroys the foundation of its own functionality. it is economy terminating on a technical, intentional level

If AI takes over video game guides to such an extent that we lose all guide writers... where's it gonna steal the guides from? If nobody's making guides to begin with (because it's no longer profitable, since all of that work is immediately stolen), there's no data for the AI to steal.

the best blues music you've never heard is currently being played by some homeless teenager in a warehouse on a banjo made out of a broken baseball bat, a hub cap, & stripped copper wire music has never had an accessibility issue

what danger?

Alex Hern@hern.bsky.social

do think there's a danger of looking at extremely cool shit like a car driving upside down then doing a kickflip before landing, and convincing yourself it's actually lame because the guy funding it is a white supremacist

Spoke with the director of Nekome: Nazi Hunter, a game I'm cautiously excited for. Made sure to follow up on comments the team made about the game not being political to @butwhytho.net – the answer I got is... interesting. This team won't acknowledge that Nazis are a thing in 2026 for some reason

this & the announcement the other day about them pivoting to ai-first game dev convinces me they're gonna use the revenue/profit numbers from EAC & *everything off the epic games store* to claim that ai is profitable it's super ridiculous. I'm so convinced that is the plan.
