Disappointing that a post started with not wanting to gatekeep writing advice and ended up with extremely gatekeepy comments. Some people write a passable or even a good first draft. Some people don't work that way. Just because a first draft is bad doesn't mean the author should give up on it.

Apparently I struck a nerve by quote-posting this guy cos he saw my post pushing back on his statements (a post which got zero engagement, btw) and decided he had to make a whole stink about it. Yikes.

Some authors prefer the philosophy of "make it exist, then make it good." Some authors want a perfect draft out of the gate. Point is, can we please stop gatekeeping writing advice and acting like there's one right way to do these things?

The oxygen that keeps us alive comes from natural ecosystems: half on land, half at sea. It's not complicated: we are TOTALLY dependent on the living world. Yet it's still treated as nothing but 'resources', to exploit and destroy for profit.

How do you think of one thing without thinking of fifty other things and getting overwhelmed by the fifty-one things and becoming a ball of anxiety and wanting to completely shut down?

Gotta say, I have no idea how to get more visibility on my silly little posts. But that is a question for another day. Been struggling to work on novels, but I've been writing haiku every day. If they resonate, consider following! :)

WE DON'T NEED PETROLEUM-BASED PLASTICS ANYMORE! "The [bamboo plastic] outperforms most commercial plastics and bioplastics in mechanical and thermo-mechanical metrics while maintaining full biodegradability in soil within 50 days and closed-loop recyclability with 90% retained strength."

Hey #BirdOfTheDay people! Can I get your advice? I'm seeking a lightweight portable camera for bird/wildlife photography (bonus if it can capture the moon/low-light subjects). I prefer an optical viewfinder (no EVF). Would love to hear your recs. And as tax, here's a king vulture I saw at the zoo :)

(I hope this is alright! I've been trying to research cameras for a little while now and have been struggling to find the right one. I'd appreciate some help from seasoned photographers who can help a beginner!) #photography #camera

Perhaps you've also noticed the trend where (generally) white men adopt & embrace AI more readily than other groups. That being said... anyone else get major ick that these people advocate for civil rights for computer programs but seem unconcerned about the erosion of rights for women, POC, etc?

This isn't parody. While I joked "What strain?" I've seen really creepy versions of this with people I know So many older dudes out of the spotlight missing being able to tell people what to do or at least human interactions... AI praises them and does what they want... sort of.

Think a 'David' is at risk of becoming the collective noun for sad poems. After yesterday's poem I promised to post a funny poem today This one by Brian Bilston shows the importance of traditional punctuation conventions The audacity of the final stanza ๐Ÿ˜ #poetry #poemoftheday
