it has indeed been somewhat slow goings esp since i have a degree (eheheh, it doesn't exactly automatically translate to having the time and energy) but soon enough i really want to lean into making animated short films ^.^

While there's been massive legislative setbacks, the gains in broad social acceptance makes a decade ago unrecognisable. The fact we've been hammered relentlessly for 4 years and polling is still like "eh I'm 50/50 on sports" is a miraculous. Holding position against a current is a wild success.

I'm really tired. Gamedev is still something I love, but it has been taking a toll on my body and mind. I'm almost 30, being on the computer all day isn't as easy as it was 10 years ago. I'm trying really hard to create things I love but I feel like it's all at a cost. It's difficult.

Reflectile will be done in a few months, I really appreciate everyone who has stuck around to see it to the end. I'm excited to have people play it! I still have a lot of optimism about games and plenty of new ideas. I just feel like my energy has taken a hit. After this I'm going to need a reset.

what is it about most indie creators / studios growing large, hitting the big time, that causes them to lose sight of their moral compass? being the underdog doesn't excuse you from acting like the overdog, to say nothing of BECOMING the overdog. i genuinely fear me going that sort of road

like, i think indie studios should have an onus to do better than the big corporations, and show it not just tell it, rather than use the whole "oh we're a smol boo boo bear of a company" thing as a sort of excuse to be laissez-faire when it comes to fair treatment and fair compensation
