incredible eye makeup on this Osmia from Idaho. Keys approximately to O. laeta but probably an undescribed species.

I spent 10 years researching the primary, secondary, grey, and personal account literature secretively, and 7 years in started to experiment with phytoestrogens without acknowledging I was trans. Wasn't until I notice the profound health benefits that I was like, "Oh...wait..."

Share a trans and/or LGBTQ+ lore about yourself.

Bonus: I avoided any personally accountable thoughts of romantic attachment, physical connection, identity, or relationships throughout my entire teenage life (largely due to the environment). I completely dedicated myself to school and entomology to avoid it(not that I regret it, was a worthy love)

Apologies for the silence the past couple weeks πŸ™ I've got a backlog of videos to edit, but I just started 2 writing contracts and have a dream job application due Friday. Will be back soon!

Truth be told I've had like...3 dream job apps pass me by this past year so I'm not super hopeful, BUT, I'm always gonna putt my whole pussy into it πŸ’ͺ fourth times the charm

Third times the charm! We couldn't eradicate the red imported fire ant with 2.4 million dollars of pesticides and thousands of animal casualties...surely 200 million dollars will fair better?

America declared war on fire ants in 1949! They lost! The first war used chlordane to attack colonies on Mississippi farms. It killed some colonies, but failed to stop the invasion. By 1951, the campaign was abandoned, a failure. Next Formicidae Friday, Part 2: lets bring out the WW2 bombers!

iNaturalist lets you upload photographs of wildlife and get identification help from a global community, including scientists! Observations contribute to biodiversity datasets used by scientists around the world. More than 7,000 scientific publications have drawn on iNaturalist data!

WWII Bombers Vs Ants: Who Wins? Millions of acres were treated with organochlorine pesticides heptachlor and dieldrin between 1957-1962. Wildlife died, and the fire ants kept spreading.

Meet the hibiscus turret bee (Ptilothrix bombiformis), a solitary ground-nesting bee that fights in flowers, builds sand castles, and can walk on water!
