A good narrator can really make an audiobook. If I'm on the fence about a book, seeing the narrator is someone I've enjoyed narrating another book is enough to make me go for it. I'll stop reading audiobooks before I ever read an "ai" narrated audiobook

It was written in the second person, and I remember the back cover (or maybe it was on the front cover) described it as being an intesnse "you are there" style. It was the first book I ever read with second person narration.

The book was definitely targeted at like tween/early teen readers. If any of this sounds familiar, do you remember the book title?

Hi, I won a poetry award, and it's a pretty big deal. I'm still in disbelief. The poem will be out in the autumn issue, in mid-October.

Fact check: this is some anti-trans propaganda Didn't expect to see @pbsnews.org manufacturing consent for the current trans genocide effort, but here we are

PBS News@pbsnews.org

An increasing number of Democratic officials in red and blue states are distancing themselves from their party's unflinching support for the transgender community's policy priorities, such as allowing athletes to compete on teams that match their gender identity. https://to.pbs.org/4xO5rWu

shout outs to trans people, they're cool as fuck bro

I was in robotics class in high school, the varsity boy's basketball coach came in to tell us, we went into the next room over so we could turn on the tv and watch the news. Most of the rest of the day was spent watching the news as far as I remember.

Everyone has a story of where they were on 9/11, but one thing unites them all. They are not that interesting.

I already stopped giving them money the last time they threatened this. I will delete my account before I do age verification.

This thread just makes me think of the "proof" that all natural numbers are interesting. You can "prove" it since the natural numbers are well ordered, but "interesting" here is actually subjective, just like "best" is in the thread. Couching your feelings in math doesnt make them objective.

It's always grimly amusing to see some arrogant jack hanger bloviate about science or math in a way that demonstrates their high-school-survey-course level of understanding thereof. "You see? The numbers show I'm right!" Except, if you use the wrong numbers (leave aside "use the wrong numbers on

This is all anecdotal, but I feel like there's a parallel between putting in the work and learning (as measured by exams). Simply getting the homework answers either from "ai" or from office hours is not putting in the work. There are no shurtcuts to learning 5/5

I don't have exact figures, but I typically spent a few hours on each assignment. I also would score around an 80 on the homework, but a lot of other students were getting 100s. The professor would go over the homework in class and this would be when I would learn where I had made my mistakes. 3/5

Then the midterm rolled around, and I'm pretty sure I ended up with the highest score in the class, in the mid-90s iirc - the exam problems were very similar to the homework problems. 4/5

Apparently, the professor would just give out the homework answers if you went to his office hours. I never went, but multiple other students confirmed this. This was a 400 level undergraduate course, and I found the homework to be pretty challenging. 2/5

lmao no. If Hong had narrowly won, they'd say that the far left has its limits because she didn't win by a large enough margin. The media always works to cast the far left in the worst light possible

I had a doctor refer me to the ER to get checked for appendicitis because of some abdominal pain I was having. The tests didn't find appendicitis, so the ER doctor tried to blame it on my HRT. A real Trans Broken Arm Syndrome moment. 🙃
