Have I mentioned my book!? It tries to inspire action by arguing we already sort-of know what needs to be done about the world's biggest problems – and have a pretty good idea of what a solution looks like. Also, economics is not what you think! www.amazon.com/How-Economic...

Welcome to Bluesky. If you're a writer, don't forget to TELL US ALL ABOUT YOUR BOOK!

This is a wild take when we’re in the middle of what could turn out to be one of the largest and most catastrophic misallocations of capital in human history driven by billionaire groupthink that was caused by a shared misinformation bubble that they created on purpose.

Most billionaire wealth isn't in yachts or jewelry — that's just a few percent of it. Most is productive business capital: companies that employ people, build things, and fund research. Tax that wealth and you're taxing the businesses that employ us all. Cato's Adam Michel explains.

Yes ”when optimism turns into a drug and people lose the ability to calculate risk” that is often ominous

Every paragraph of this story is *gold* But who could have known, amiri … oh yes, everyone grading Al slop submitted by students, that’s who.

I am sorry, which company is this? www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

I juni var jag inbokad för att debattera existentiell hälsa med ansvarig minister på radions P1 men blev ”cancelled” med kort varsel. Det här är iaf ungefär vad jag tänkte säga.

These days, it’s easy to succumb to hopelessness. But I explain why doomerism can lead to paralysis in a new article I wrote for The Guardian The problem with doomerism isn’t necessarily that the risks are exaggerated, but that it may create a self-fulfilling prophecy and create helplessness

theguardian.comThe problem with telling people the world is endingIn the face of terrible crises, it can feel right to shock people into action. But what if that has the opposite effect?

My heart breaks for mathematicians whose lives and careers are being destroyed by AI — and especially this PhD student, who doesn’t even know he is a poet

I’m old enough to remember a time when Republicans were very much opposed to this sort of thing.

I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.

Wish I knew more macro. I did complete the PhD-level core sequence but everything I remember doing was solving dynamic linear programming problems 🫨🫨🫨

2026 economic sciences laureates Robert E. Hall’s and Michael Woodford’s research has made us better equipped to manage economic downturns. They laid the foundation of the New Keynesian paradigm, in which models are built upon microfoundations, which means from the bottom up.

And somehow we've put the future of humankind in the hands of people utterly devoid of normal human emotions, empathy and humanity. I do not feel good about this.

If only all the rest of you brilliant book authors could hold off for a bit so the competition isn’t so sharp, that would be great. Please and thank you 🙏

can’t think of a better example of AI being mostly a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist also it can’t help when this is your user base
