Thanks for the sales surge everyone. (Joke) More txt in the alt if I can tempt you. I was always going to keep my sources secret but when I was getting Drum's voice I imagined the delivery of Arnold Brown channeling the mind of Jerry Sadowitz. There you go folks. You can have that morsel for free.

One of the lesser known outlaws of the Old West was Rufus Nephew, aka Climax Jim. That's unfortunate because the man's life was a never ending series of crimes, arrests, acquittals, convictions & daring escapes. Here's a sampling of some of his very stupid adventures... 🧵

Everyone will be pleased to know that the Goodreads group set up to solve book queries also failed to name this book, which is now looking like I might have dreamed nearly 30 years ago.

Sadly, still no luck. Here's all memories - it is Irish or Irish-American - everyone thinks the narrator is normal and boring, maybe an accountant - he is a hit-man, employed unwittingly by his brother-in-law -proved his worth by underlining a phone book in a bar, on a single name, and killing them.

One of the joys of R4Extra is that it schedules programmes you'd never have discovered otherwise. That's *a lot* of great radio sinking without trace in the archives, including material from newer and less well-known talent.

Closing Radio 4 Extra will not create savings of note. It commissions no original programmes. It pays modest radio royalties, producers and hosts. That's it. So the BBC archive is gonna be left to collect dust?

I love 4 Extra. It's my favourite radio station. I love how it flows as a linear station. I love how it schedules programmes I'd otherwise never have heard. It's my go-to escape. I'm very sad to read that it is to close.

The talk I did in Cambridge was probably one of the best I’ve ever done. I’d come unprepared and turned up at the venue 10 mins before I was due to go on. Am I being interviewed I asked. No Rob, you’re flying solo they said. So off I flew....and here we go...lengthy thread alert.
