I've been a bit quiet here lately and that's cos things have been busy! We're in the middle of more gigs at the Moth Club, and then TOMORROW is the premiere of our new single, Young and Dumb, which you can hear on 6 Music some time after 11am. Join me in gathering round your wind-up radios 😍

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

I love 4 Extra. It's my favourite radio station. I love how it flows as a linear station. I love how it schedules programmes I'd otherwise never have heard. It's my go-to escape. I'm very sad to read that it is to close.

“Giant ___ are what you take, walking on the moon” - what word do you think would fit best in the blank space above? A) Crabs B) Flippers C) Heirloom Tomatoes D) Breaths E) Henchmen F) Prongs G) Liberties or F) Ed ‘Big Daddy’ Roths?

Watched West Side Story again and, for the first time, I watched the "graffiti" credits. Liked them. Now trying find out if anyone commented on them at the time.

Here's a very short two-parter: On Monday evening, some film dialogue was going through my head. Solozzo pitching his idea to Vito where he talks about the politicians and cops that the Don has in his pocket. We go out and, a couple of hours later, we walk back through a largely deserted square.1/2

..There's a man in the square. He's sitting by the fountain watching something on his phone. As we approach him, I hear the French-dubbed voice of Solozzo making his pitch. The word "poche" is uttered as we walk past. 2/2 Flippin nora.

Late to this and everything else but the chord which is played after a notable mushroom-related death in the Peter Ustinov narrated 'Barbar the Elephant' is the scariest sound ever recorded.

Last night of the Proms. Includes Holst's version of Manfred Mann's 'Joybringer'. For reasons best known to himself, Gustav cut out the noodly keyboard bit.

My attempt to record an album of covers of 101 TV adverts before I *die* now struggles into the 40s – I blame parenting and more specifically my son for its slow progress

Craig Douglas has died. Had his hits before the Fabs arrived. He topped the bill on one of their early stage shows. I wish I'd asked him about that when he was in the Marlowe Theatre Panto 85/86. "Cinderella". He may or may have been a temporary Buttons. I was selling the ice creams.

Craig Douglas is credited with what I think is the best British big beat ballad ever recorded. Listen to his spectacular vocal performance on this amazing tune written by J A Freedman and impeccably produced by Tony Hatch. Why they hid it on a B side is baffling. youtu.be/8dwI1iJcgjg?...

My godfather, Craig Douglas, died this week.😞He found fame as a pop singer in the late ‘50s and early ‘60s with a string of hits, including Only Sixteen, which was a number one in 1959. He told me some great stories about meeting The Beatles & The Stones: www.countypress.co.uk/news/2652524...

Managed some more sleep thanks to the backwards-counting method. Was rewarded with a dream in which I flew a colander as if it were a kite. Inevitably, I lost it over a high wall. So that's another one gone.
