In the slop era, will actually working digital products be like artisanal soap, very expensive niche things for the rich?

this used to be annoying because fusing kernels requires actually understanding how each model works, but now its just models optimizing other models.

The whole point of time zones is to align time with when you want to wake up. But who would want to wake up, what kind of weird use case is this.

What do you even do as a job now when you actually care? Artisanal coding isn't it either. I don't code for the purpose of coding. I do it because I like making things. But most of the industry is in full AI psychosis where it doesn't even seem to matter if the LLM output actually does anything

Uncomfortably stuck between "we must build a strong army to keep out Russia" and "we must not build up a strong army because it might fall to the nazis"

opus5 sucks. there, i said it. anthropic is loosing it. yeah it can do "agentic" stuff better i guess, but i still need to read all that output, and most of it is garbage

Do millennials get midlife crisis? Feels like we had it pretty good. Being young in the 2000s was crazy. Don't know why I'd need a motorcycle or do drugs now. I'm good.

People who are saying everyone will vibecode in house SAP on their Mac studio just don't understand how businesses make decisions. Infrastructure cost is a completely irrelevant factor, because the cost is the same for all companies in the same McKinsey deck.

There's something very interesting happening. Humans collectively have very quickly adapted to detect the 16 or so patterns that AI produces. Much faster than new models can be trained.

Anyone else becoming so hyper aware of Claude's specific writing style that you can't read anything anymore that contains even traces of Claude ?

Basically hacker news.

figure since we are already dunking on this wildly baseless attack I'd mention that "is bad to trans women" is often employed against anyone, including trans women, for the crime of disagreeing on Bluesky, even if you didn't know the person was trans.

I know this has been pointed out many times by many people but I just want to reiterate: Anthropic is basically using Kurt Vonnegut's drawing of an asshole as the Claude logo

"you have to work out" No. I refuse to be commanded by nature. Give me the cyberpunk knee replacement already. With the bullet time addon.

A question from Reddit that I'll answer here: "What's the most unhinged thing a doctor has said to you with a straight face?"

Seen a funny systemd of death. Not only does stroer use Linux but I also probably caused this specific issue by making a prototype for another company that was bought by stroer, and they probably never improved it.

I wish people understood that venture capital is actually a net loss for the ruling class. Or maybe, idk, maybe continue to not understand so we have a higher chance of convincing rich heirs that its the next big thing.

So not even LTT pushing linux moves the steam charts. And the main reason remains the same as always: People buy a computer and just use whatever is on there. It's a regulatory problem.

Someone at work called me the Linus Torwalds of defence and now I'm sad because all Linus does is yell at people who are wrong, but they're still wrong.

Why I love EU? I refound this image today. It is from when the Polish army of fire engines arrived to save Sweden from the largest forrest fire in Swedish history. At this point the Swedish fire departments had lost the fight against the raging fires. 1/3

The deeper the skill tree, the bigger the overlap with trans and furries. That's true for network engineering, cryptography and even Warhammer.

I am scared of people who don't read books. They are alien minds, with entirely different structures.

The great averaging machine is not a person. It's the average output of all persons at best, which makes it fundamentally incapable of art, which is the opposite of averaging.
