This being only used for two cutscene frames is still frying me. Like what was the original intention with this 😭

People who are only fixated on one IP when you tell them that you won't make a new sequel but instead a new original IP.

I agree. It gets ridiculous with how certain individuals are behaving regarding wanting a new game and to be honest I would rather see more games that aren't Freedom Planet. It would be cool as that would allow Galaxy Trail to experiment with stuff they wouldn't be able to do with Freedom Planet.

FP1 released 12 years ago, and still most Lilac fans won't leave Dawn alone. She can't celebrate any new role in peace!!! 💔 The Sonic curse is potent with Freedom Planet. For as much as I'd like a new sequel, fans like these don't deserve another. Even fan game devs and modders are sick of them!!!

But because they are fixated on the characters but not the game itself, they don't care. I get why some may want a new game, but I just don't really know how the series could go forward in term of gameplay outside of redoing the combat system.

I feel like it already hit the ceiling with what the second game wanted to do. Does this mean that GT is done with the series? Perhaps not but like I feel like more people should encourage them to go beyond than just Freedom Planet.

I do believe that fixating on a single ip as your identity is not healthy. For example you can look how Sonic Fans behaved with the lack of a new sonic game announcement. There are so many games that these people are missing out by just fixating on a single ip.

I won't mention names but I have seen people get really toxic towards other sonic inspired games like Spark for not being Freedom Planet and criticize about some of the gameplay decisions. The irony that a lot of the criticism from those people would also essentially apply for Freedom Planet.

#samandmax20th Sam & Max Season One never would have happened if not for Sam & Max: Freelance Police, a LucasArts game that was cancelled on March 3, 2004 — just a few months before its expected release. (Psst, share this thread for a chance to win a game key!)

Finding out that the sequel of a game I really liked ended up splitting the player progress into offline and online so if I want to play online with friends, I have to start from scratch if I played offline before. People say it is to "prevent cheaters cheating"... But it's a coop game dude...

Great mod (basically a fan-patch) for the original Freedom Planet that fixes a bunch of old bugs and makes the two WIP characters fully playable.

I just found out that there is a huge flaw when it comes to playing as Fark in #SparkTEJ. If you keep holding the attack button while still attacking, you do not gain any energy until you release the button. That means that there is a chunk of energy you are missing out, making the game a bit harder

I wish I had the money to get a gog copy so that I can do a patch of Freedom Planet Plus for it.

I noticed when I wrote the story outline in detail for each scene in Float's Story is that the mod is not that friendly to get into, if you haven't played the previous games. So I most likely need to write a prologue summarizing the events of the first 3 games.

There is one scene I might have to change towards the endgame but so far the outline seems to be in good shape. The story plays an important role in this mod so writing the dialogue for it will be more challenging than programming. I'll figure it out.

I was never a fan of the fall damage mechanic in Spark 3 but then I realize there are sonic fans larping about the game and say that you can fly all over the level design when you literally have the fall damage mechanic preventing you from doing that nonsense.

Sonic fangames are crazy because via a game of telephone, Sonic fans have invented a new gameplay style that no other game has. Its really funny because any fast 3D physics-driven platformer will get compared to Sonic now when no official Sonic game looks or plays like that.

Saw someone complaining about the Freedom Planet "dlc" or "update" that was cancelled while Freedom Planet Plus was being showcased at Sonic Fan Fest.

Saying it for maybe the 50th time: Do not accuse someone of using AI unless you have ABSOLUTELY AIRTIGHT proof, because if not, you're just adding to the paranoia and causing stress for hard-working artists. And yes, going onto social media and going 'Hrrm, I've no proof, but...' is an accusation.

Stuck In Attic@stuckinattic.bsky.social

We recently got accused of using AI for music in our game and, while it's disheartening, it encouraged me to make a thread about making music for games, what it takes, and why it can be heartbreaking to be accused or even suspected of something we detest. 🧵Long thread follows:

Somebody asked me on Reddit why people who use AI to generate Recomp projects are currently being rejected from the communities and what they can do to fix this. I might tweak parts of this to be a more general blog post at some point, but this should be of help to anyone in a similar situation.

Kotaku parading that garbage "recompilation" Generation 1 Pokémon project is genuinely upsetting. I was hoping the communities would reject vibe coded garbage, but these people are now intentionally hiding the usage and even lying that it's hand-written to peddle their slop onto others.

I've been thinking for a while about how to handle the endgame when it comes to the story since that's pretty much what's left to be written before I start touching any code. Hopefully I come to a conclusion once the exam is over.

One of the early drafts for Float's Story had a more depressing ending which I'm sort of glad I backtracked from it. Maybe some day I'll talk about the scrapped plot points.

Oh dang, XF: Extreme Formula just left early access! An F-Zero like racer from the developer of the Spark The Electric Jester series. You CAN play it as a pure racing game, but the story mode has you doing on-foot platform brawler missions to make money to upgrade your ship between races. It's rad

On that note, if you want to see what happens when someone does something new with F-Zero, XF: Extreme Formula is an F-Zero like racer but with a story mode that has you living the racer life, doing contract work (including on-foot platforming/brawling) to buy upgrades for your racing ship.
