My AZ ballot was dropped off last night at a drop box and is "accepted" as of today. Had a little gathering to discuss candidates and measures Thursday evening that was fun and very helpful. Voting brings us together! Go Vote!!!

The post 9/11 Bush era restructuring of govt for "security" and "natl def" was always about mass surveillance and overt fascist govt rule. Libertarians, progressives, and labor movements should all unite to repeal Bush era laws.

Rep. Delia C. Ramirez has introduced a bill that would abolish not just ICE, but the DHS altogether, repealing the 2002 law establishing the agency and replacing it with one focused on protecting civil and human rights.

And, here, in much more detail. This is an absolutely critical read for all federally funded scientists and institutions. Now is not the time to sit in the corner, hoping you won't be noticed - now is the time for action. elizabethginexi.substack.com/p/summary-of...

Great 🧵 and break down. SCIENTISTS went above and beyond for decades showing their work, filling in knowledge gaps, responding to critique in good faith. Global action bent the worst case scenario curve down. The response to attacking the problem, finally: "No problem here!!!" Imbeciles 🫠

Lesson time. This isn't an unhinged rant, it's been carefully crafted to undermine the UN panel on climate change, and the democrats who support it. When analyzing disinformation, political communication like trump's must be analyzed not just by its tone, but by its strategic intent. 🧵 1 of

So the people who elected Trump are having a FAFO moment. They gave us this mess. I ave no sympathy, and especially no empathy.

New piece: Trump’s approval rating among low-engagement voters has fallen 30 points since Jan, the worst decline for any group. The GOP’s big advantage with hard-to-reach voters has evaporated as economic turmoil & toxic politics turns them away from Trump www.gelliottmorris.com/p/what-do-di...

It is so funny that Trump fucks off to golf, sleep at Mar-a-lago cause he misses his fave pillow, or anything else that piques his interest... But will not go to his son's wedding?! Just the worst dad ever. So much for family values. Also, Junior... Buah-Hahahahaha such a weak try-hard. Lol 😂

Decades of under staffing and under funding created a backlog of tail work across the West. Now the FS is caving and allowing chainsaws into the wilderness. Forest Service OKs chainsaws to clear trails in one of the largest wilderness areas | KUNC share.google/u3qaQmt0kx55...

Which gets me to my point... Our government should pay to train and develop experience to build and maintain public infrastructure. Those well trained and professional people will move on to private sector jobs. They will start businesses. They will be hired as highly skilled employees.

Now the contractors I've interacted with from the private sector on the whole are, tbh, shit. Their product is shit. Their craftsmanship is shit. The pride in providing a good product to the American people is shit. It's all about maximizing profit and reducing liability.

I wish we as a nation invested our tax dollars in the people of this country serving our country to build and maintain the infrastructure and capability of our nation. The science and research infrastructure of this nation was supported by trades people, accountants, and contract specialists.

All of the people behind the science and discoveries are less acknowledged and further underpaid. They are the hidden force with the knowledge of writing agreements, fulfilling contracts, navigating the complex requirements congress has implemented to reduce waste fraud and abuse.

Please elaborate on "They don't fear us" Who should be fearful? Why should "they" be fearful? Who is "us" explicitly? Is this a threat Mike Davis and the people in the "us" group should be feared. Sure sounds like terrorism and a threat.

Welcome to the “second as farce” edition of the Reichstag Fire.

Cool, and Forest Service R&D is getting gutted cause we can't afford science. And NSF, NCAR, NOAA, NASA, HHS, USAID.... and on and on and on. So tired of this shit.
