I keep telling people that “it's bad for us” and “it produces bad results” are not the same fucking statement, but almost literally everyone in progressive circles seems to be content with reaffirming their already established beliefs about the tech by repeating moral condemnations to each other.

People who still think that LLMs are good for absolutely nothing really haven't grasped the severity of what's going on in cybersecurity right now. Finding vulnerabilities in code is exactly the sort of pattern matching language models are good at.

Active Matter is a game with some really cool ideas and an artistic vision that is, despite being derivative, manages to feel interesting. Maybe because it pulls from many places at once. Unfortunately, my enjoyment of the game is once again soured by AI-generated lore bits.

By delegating lore in your game to genAI, you're telling me that you think lore doesn't matter. This *immediately* kills all my engagement with the world of the game. The same happens with any other part that you've delegated to a machine so fully you don't even do an editing pass.

There's a huge disconnect between what people claim they're doing with genAI, and what they're actually doing. The claims about it paint a human being at the center of a machine that is capable of amplifying their cognitive abilities by several orders of magnitude. The reality is a meat proxy.

To use genai well enough so that it *actually* replaces artists and coders, you have to have at least some interests in art and code. You have to be the one who shapes the output, actually, you know, *uses* genAI as a tool. Literally no one does this.

This isn't an upgrade. It's not about people being able to make things faster and better. You're doing things, sure, but they're not better. And you're rotting your own brain while doing it. This is disgraceful and the exact opposite of the transhumanist dream. You disgust me.

None of you AI bros are even close to the image of a polymath using AI to enhance their abilities. Literally all of you are talentless lazy hacks who just want someone else to do all the work that you don't wanna do, and not pay them.

My eyes just slide off any text that has clearly not been edited by a human being to any significant degree. If you're not invested in your lore enough to actually write it, how do you expect me to care? Come on.

Everyone says they're using genAI “for development”, but you start the game and 80% of the text is not just obviously generated, but pasted into the game as is.

I keep saying theists should come up with fresh stuff, but then they do, and it's stupider than the last time Psychophysical harmony is a really fancy way to ask “why is it that your mental state correlates to physical states” and like... because the latter cause the former?! How is this impressive

This assumes that the mind is some separate thing piloting the body, i.e. dualism. It is only a problem for dualism-brained views of the world. Otherwise, a mind that reacts to the world around it in a semi-consistent way is perfectly explained by natural fucking selection.

Look at the shabby state and increasingly authoritarian trajectory of the country and ask yourself if we can endure 2 more years of a lawless Trump administration wreaking havoc with no check from Congress, then vote accordingly. This is not the time for a protest vote or purity politics.

I'd say this is sad... if this was 20 years ago. Epic's been a shit company for a while now.

NEW: Epic Games has delayed its upcoming (not yet announced) Star Wars + Marvel shooter as it pivots to complete AI game development. "No more hand-written code," a director told staff. All art "generated with full AI workflows." Full scoop: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

I love being told that being queer is my entire identity, immediately marks the one speaking as a dishonest shit who didn't bother to click on my profile to check their assumptions. The things I talk about 90% of the time are video games and IT shit.

Being queer is, of course *a* part of how I think about myself, but it's a background fact most of the time. It really is universal that whatever trait of yours a bigot chooses to hate, they think of it way more than the objects of their bigotry.

It is however really shitty to admit to yourself that you're obsessed with some trivial shit, which is where the projection comes in. No, Kevin, you're the one who's obsessed with gay shit. It's a small part of life for me. Get a fucking grip.
