Some random thoughts on music that don't need multiple threads: I am always slightly horrifed to realise that the "punk elder statesmen " we had in my youth (TV Smith, Jake Burns, John Cooper Clarke) were younger back then than we are now.

Anyone that plays the "modern music is just worse" card is lazy, stupid and gave up caring enough to look. Fuck them. Any 20 year old doing it should be punched in the face by his (and it's always a guy) friends to save him from himself.

I try to keep up with modern music but I have no idea whether the modern kids have those older heroes. (I think Robert Smith might genuinely be one?) The rise of "reacting to classic rock to get boomer views" videos makes it even harder to tell.
