I’m pretty late to video editing but this week recorded the assembly process of our Seal Cubs. The dry bit anyway. I looked for EU based video apps and tried Splice and Mojo. Here’s 10 mins of cutting and sewing in under 2 in our Dublin shop #irishcraft #wool #dublin #handmade #irishdesign

The 2026 restock has started with our wool felt fish. The fins are cut from felt manufacturer scraps so we’ve changed our filling for these to recycled yarn (reverse milled from industry waste) to boost sustainability a little more! #recycling #wool #irishcraft #visitdublin

They’ve been from the shop only for a year or so as I wanted to see people try them on and how they fit different heads but they’re online now. #irishcraft #irishdesign #wool #naturalwool #beanies #speirgorm

We were recently asked to make a trophy for the Dublin Animation Meet-up (DAM) Audience Award based on their Beaver character. I love bringing other people’s illustrations to life and usually do one or two of these projects each year.

Although they often use our own techniques and methods it’s a chance to think outside the box on aspects that are slightly different to our own work. This one’s not too different to a Beaver we might make, except the colour!

Our robins are made with natural brown Merino around Galway stuffing with a patch of dyed merino attached at hand felting stage. Beaks and feet are cut from taupe coloured sheet wool felt and they’re all stitched together with natural Shetland yarn which also does the eyes.

Our Christmas cards use scraps and offcuts of wool felt, stuck with eco glue over a print of a tree trunk drawing on recycled card and come with a recycled envelope packed in clear cornstarch cellophane. Pick out a selection Instore! #irishcraft #woolfelt #christmascards #visitdublin #speirgorm

Love Halloween but hate the plastic? Our 100% wool creepy creatures are stocked up instore along with some little limited run ghosts. #speirgorm #halloween #plasticfree #wool #irishcraft

Natural un-dyed Aran weight yarns for your own projects. These are some of our favourite commonly used wools for our felt animals, sent to a mill for spinning, just back today. Shetland, BFL, Baby Alpaca blend White Romney White (cream) Blue Faced Leicester Brown Blue Faced Leicester

We’re settled back into a new school term so shop opening hours will be 10 - 2 weekdays (bar the inevitable few sick days!) We’ve been working on our Autumn/Winter pieces over the summer with customer favourite Robins out on the shelves this week. #irishcraft #speirgorm #wool #robins #visitdublin

We’ve been working with 100% Irish Galway Wool for a batch of sheep - it’s normally the just the stuffing as it’s SO hard to work with as an outside layer. A few other favourites that can be all white on the way. #irishwool #irishcraft #visitdublin #wool #sheep

Puffins were a special request by @cleoltd.bsky.social (though we try to keep a few at our shop). For years I thought there was too many details for puffins to work - all the colours in the beak, the. Icy markings, the shape - it this is how we’ve simplified it for our range #puffin #speirgorm

I’ve been in Kildare at my father in law’s funeral and met his uncle who is 93 and told me he owned Smithfield Motor Company which was situated on the same road as my shop, Benburb St. I found these photos and it seems to be opposite current Fidelity bar, where Bargaintown is now. #speirgorm #dublin

It’s Daffodil Day in support of the Irish Cancer Society, plenty of places to donate around Dublin City this morning. Seems extra significant this year with services being cut in the US. Thanks to all the volunteers and best wishes to all in treatment now. #daffodilday #fuckcancer

Spring time bunnies in natural white Romney and Oatmeal Blue Faced Leicester with tails cut from our smallest white felt scraps with pinking shears. Handmade at our Dublin store. #wool #irishcraft #bunnies #speirgorm

One of our rarer coloured wool creatures, usually found hiding at the back of the shop as they’re one of the more time consuming pieces. Just finished 5 of them, which probably record stock levels. #wool #irishcraft #fox #speirgorm #independentstore

Great idea, I like the positive approach!

We're all guilty of leaning into Amazon when needs must, but we need to wean ourselves off old, difficult habits, now more than ever. If you read this, share a cool Irish business, designer, craftsperson or indie retailer we can support instead, and let's get a list together. #spéirghorm #Ireland

A lot of people discover our store for the first time over St Patrick’s Weekend, here’s some of the other non felt animals products by other people and natural crafting wools we have for your own projects. Looking forward to a buzzing Dublin! #wool #irishcraft #speirgorm #knitting #stpatricksday

St Patrick’s Day is coming up, it’s been a full weekend festival last few years, based at Collin’s Square in the museum on our road. We usually see an influx of tourists, particularly Americans - I wonder what to expect this year, are Americans travelling to Europe? #stpatricks #speirgorm #tourism

This is natural grey Gotland wool, it’s dark and coarse with a bit of a sheen and it’s quick to form a stiff felt. These sheep bodies are made with Gotland on the outside and Galway inside and finished with white Romney parts. Handmade at our Dublin City shop #wool #irishcrafts #speirgorm

Early 2000s I worked in the kitchen of the type of pub that did Cajun chicken baguette, chilli con carne in jacket spuds and cheesy chips etc. one pancake day I replaced all the carb elements with pancakes and the lunch crowd got really angry #pancakeday #speirgorm

Customers were going “what if you don’t like pancakes” and I was like “who doesn’t like pancakes?” Turns out the office lunch crowd didn’t (or apparently my attitude) and they went elsewhere. Anyway, myself and other staff ate a lot of pancakes that day.

We end up with a lot of small offcuts and often have to sort them - working out what finishing features we have helps us decide what body parts to start. The little white triangles will become bunny tails for a springtime special #wool #irishcraft #speirgorm #craftsky
