I don't understand why people ever watched the H3 podcast. Like none of these people are funny or likeable, and they don't even seem to like each other. Someone is going to have to explain what made any of this compelling

I do find a lot to criticize among current writing trends, but "millennial writing" is tantamount to a hand-wave. You're not actually interested in engaging with the work itself. You just think it's "cringe."

"millennial writing" as a term confabulates cuz it could charitably describe Joss Whedon's writing style, but Whedon is not a millennial. Guys using this term to "crit" don't aim it at Whedon or Whedonesque works. Feels like a "CalArts style" level crit. Just another way of saying "gay/for girls"

just as an aside. just like what the movie Jaws did to sharks, i think(half jest. half serious) that this single panel has done some sort of irreparable damage to general consumption/critique of media

"why can you not just enjoy AI art?"

Rewatching KoG and this quote came to mind: “IT'S THE EXPRESSION ON THEIR LITTLE FACES I LIKE, said the Hogfather. "You mean sort of fear and awe and not knowing whether to laugh or cry or wet their pants?" YES. NOW THAT IS WHAT I CALL BELIEF.” -Terry Pratchett, Hogfather #KoG #Discworld

Honest to god, I think Flanagan understands Carrie the way lay people understand Frankenstein. "Oh yeah, green dude with the lightning, I know Frankenstein." "Oh yeah Carrie, she killed a bunch of people with the telepathy or whatever you call it. I know that broad."

They haven't shut the fuck up about Hasan Piker saying "America brought 9/11 on itself" for months only for Trump to say something ten times worse live on national television

Yesterday's news about Jacob Geller broke my heart, so much that I couldn't stop dwelling on it all day. In an effort to make sense of this horrific news and my admittedly complicated feelings about it, here is my article on the Jacob Geller situation: epiloguegaming.com/what-do-we-d...

epiloguegaming.comWhat Do We Do With Jacob Geller? - Epilogue GamingEarlier this week, a friend noticed Jacob Geller’s book, How A Game Lives, sitting amongst my living room shelves. Under almost any other circumstances, this would have been an exciting invitation for...

Maybe I’m going on my high-horse a bit, but I’ve always had a quiet disdain for irony-pilled humour. While a detached mindset can be funny in moderation, I think the world needs more sincerity and genuine care, rather than less of it. Call me a fuckin’ Boy Scout, but eh. I literally was one.

If Mamdani's social media campaign is propaganda then it is propaganda unreproducible by Democrats and Republicans because it relies first and foremost on tangible results.

Last month, we refurbished 10 tennis courts in Crotona Park — the only public tennis courts in the Bronx with lights for night play. We stopped by recently to see how things were going. Thank you to NYJTL, USTA and Yonex for helping us deliver high-quality public spaces that New Yorkers deserve.

Brad Bird says ‘Ray Gunn’ was made in 3D CG partly because studios are afraid hand-drawn 2D animation won’t be commercially successful: “I don’t agree that hand-drawn animation isn’t commercial, which is what the industry believes.”

I really hate being one of those "indie animation fans have no media literacy" people but I will admit that I'm not surprised that a show with very obvious themes of anti-capitalism, misogyny, abuse, ableism and the patriachy is completely overlooked is going over a lot of people's heads lmao.

don't I know it.

it must be said that it’s very difficult to edit a script when the drafting process took nearly two years. i’m editing the beginning now, and some of it is fine the way it is, but other parts makes me go “wait, do i even still believe that?” and then i’m sent down a rabbit hole 😵‍💫

Mayor Mamdani: AI is present in nearly every aspect of our lives. I am proud to announce New York City's first ever AI policy for our public schools. Children need teachers and human connection to learn and grow. This school year, we will implement a 1 year moratorium on AI from 2k through 8th grade
