Everyone thought Lula was cooked, hopeless. Then he bought a phone and started posting and now he's gonna get a 4th term. The lesson is to never stop posting.

The United States spends more on HIV research than it does on Alzheimer's. Federal law protects PrEP coverage. It is easily the single biggest QALY/$ outlier in US health-related spending. You cannot look at HIV in the United States today and say liberals want people to quietly die of AIDS.

I work in manufacturing. I know everyone loves to complain thst β€œthey don’t make them like they used to” but in most cases things are made both better and cheaper, as well as much more safely for the people building them.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

I had to read the sentence "Astonishingly, the private keys were 4, 56, 66, 115, 155, 156, 230, 237" several times, because despite knowing @dangoodin.bsky.social superior attention to detail, my brain was *certain* that could not be correct.

β€œCould you see if my home is still standing?” For @newlinesmag.bsky.social, I write about how satellite imagery became one of the only ways Palestinians could see what remained of home. I spoke to four, two from Rafah, about what these images show and leave out.

While writing this piece and speaking with the Palestinians in it, I struggled, as I think we collectively, as humanity, do, to grasp the gravity of destruction. What it means for an entire city to be destroyed, and for people to lose their homes and the lives they built there.

this is, genuinely, extremely normal for rapidly growing companies. if your revenue is growing very quickly, then you can pay off any debt you take on today in a pretty short time frame. reminded of cory doctorow claiming uber wasn't and would never be profitable right as it became a money printer

the "bad misstatement" in question is to the effect of "yes, I commit sexual harassment regularly and utilize the funds made available to me via nonprofit grants to commit sexual harassment and to induce people to have sex with me and to participate in sexual events which i attend"

I know there are a million problems / downsides with this compared to typical aviation, but if you don't think it's super cool, you're just a liar. And materials will only get lighter, batteries will only get denser, etc.

The world’s largest battery-electric aircraft flew for the first time on the 12th of August, a 27-minute test flight over upstate New York that cost about five dollars in electricity. Heart Aerospace’s 30-seat prototype is a big step toward a commercial version. buff.ly/i3f0PhR #ShareGoodNewsToo

Raising the height cap in the height of buildings act is difficult bc people want the washington monument to be this really big landmark But its economic cost is such that, especially when considering that the washington monument's facade is kinda ugly, we should just redo the monument to be bigger
