Me: I wish America had its first openly LGBT President. (monkey’s paw curls)

Trump: "I'm studying his body. I've never studied the body of a man before. It's not my thing. Nothing wrong with it, of course. But it's never been my thing. But I looked at his ass. I said, 'His ass, shit, it's like a pile of muscle.' Then I looked at his legs and I said, 'Man, his feet are big.'"

😬 Katie Zacharia's first press briefing was brutally bad 😬 Trump managed to find a press secretary who can barely read, but she does have the number one qualification -- looking like Ivanka Here's a supercut from Zacharia's first briefing, which made Karoline Leavitt seem like Ronald Reagan

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

Have these doctors considered that if he loses a lot of weight that poses a mental health risk to me?

President Trump’s medical measurements have been long dissected. But the president has appeared heavier in photos than he did during his campaign, and the administration said he gained 14 pounds between his most recent annual medical check-ups.

The president has a lady Renfield that sleeps in the White House crawlspace and travels in the wheel well of Airforce 1 and prints out his posts for him on a portable printer and wipes the poo poo off of his giant ass and that's supposed to be funny?

I say this with no exaggeration whatsoever: Thomas the Train/Tank Engine is the most aggressively fascist thing committed to film since Triumph of the Will

trans rights frankly is a top 5, potentially top 3 issue for me despite not being trans and not having any trans family being bigoted against trans folks not only hurts my trans friends and every trans person but is so predictive of further bigotry

I’ve seen people online argue that going the posted speed limit in the passing lane is ACTUALLY illegal. They argue the passing lane effectively has no speed limit. You can go however fast you need to go to pass!

Tom Nichols is terrible but we pretend he isn’t

If the message from some of you here is "it's okay to be Stalinists because our opponents are Nazis," be ready for the possibility that - given that choice - people will choose Nazis.

People just saying’ shit these days. No connection to objective reality necessary, apparently.

All of these proposals (other than maybe #6) are wrong headed. A ban on anonymous user names only benefits the powerful who can use real world tools (threats of job loss, harassment by lunatics, swatting, etc) to quiet troublemakers.

Duncan Weldon@duncanweldon.bsky.social

I remain of the view that regulation of social media is better than a ban for young people. But I also pretty much agree with all these proposals.

Not to mention (as many others have) that it can be easily weaponized against trans people who’d have to choose between dead name and silence. Dog shit proposals from baby brained political staffers

This might be one of the most insane scandals in game history When Pokemon Go players scan PokeStops, theyve been unknowingly building a detailed visual model of the world which is being sold to a military contractor to build a no-GPS positioning for the new generation of unmanned killing machines

There’s been a lot of talk in this race about what makes a "real man." A man does what’s right when no one is watching. He upholds his commitments to his family and neighbors. He doesn’t lie, cheat, & steal his way through life. Real men serve others. Weak men serve themselves.

Thousands of people here telling you to “shut the fuck up.” How is that not friction? Or does the “friction” you yearn for need to be instigated by right wingers?

Corey Atad@coreyatad.com

from what i see, most here don't want the friction that produces the roiling, exciting conversations we used to get on Twitter. that's fine. Facebook was nice, too, when it was just posting photos for friends and the occasional convo in the comments. but then the contrasts become more apparent.

Imagine saying this shit then turning off replies immediately, lol.

i think, end of the day, the real problem with Bluesky is that most of its users are here *because* they want to be in a bubble. and they can tell themselves that it’s just about not being around Nazis it supporting Musk, and that’s part of it, but also there’s a palpable desire to be ensconced.

Franky Pelvis reposted

its just bizarre to me to say that bluesky is a siloed off bubble detached from real debate when everyone over here hates the president with a 30% approval and everyone over there thinks things are going so well that we have entered a 1000 year conservative reign

Immediate unconditional surrender. Demoralizing for everyone that fought so hard for this. This person must never hold public office again.

Spanberger: I am disappointed by the Supreme Court of Virginia’s ruling, but my focus as Governor will be on ensuring that all voters have the information necessary to make their voices heard this November in the midterm elections because in those elections we — the voters — will have the final say.

One thing that is uniquely bad about online discourse is when people have the self-reinforcing delusion that resistance to very stupid theories is additional proof of how true they are

Replying to @juliusgoat.bsky.social

To tell an obvious lie without consequence is more menacing than a subtle lie would be, because an obvious lie demonstrates domination more perfectly, so the more obvious the lie, the more virtuous a fascist finds it.
