My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

Fully funded while back thanks for all the backing and sharing of my weird little crime comic. I will give you peace for a bit and go back to posts about old 2000ad characters and dog pictures like normal fifty something men do. kck.st/3W1atAZ

3-1 at Ibrox today and Rangers go top until tomorrow at least. Great in the first half, could have scored five or six. Poor, disjointed second half with Killie much the better side. 3-1 about right. Kim Minsu is a wee star.

Never forget that the newspapers fawning over “colourful” habitual convicted liar Jeffrey Archer were gleefully and relentlessly hounding a Black academic to death only a few weeks ago because they reckoned he’d exaggerated some stuff.

Apart from his role in the Thatcherite destruction of British society, my abiding memory of Lord Archer is how aghast he was that he, Lord Archer, should be expected to go to prison simply for the trifling matter of committing a serious crime.

Excellent piece on the new remastered Blu-ray of Sexy Beast

★★★★★ SEXY BEAST - A genuinely great modern British gangster film - #JonathanGlazer’s 2001 film has plentiful grit, but it’s also truly beautiful... This mornings warm up sketch where in a couple of the Prunes boys seem to be posing for the cover of their avant garde pop album. Done with a battered old Windsor and Newton number 2 I don’t have the heart to throw them out I mostly but cheaper ones and replace more often nowadays

Just found out that Matt Howarth died. One of the purest examples of the explosion of creativity that happened in American comics in the 1980s, his weird take on genre tropes was totally individual and uncommercial. RIP.

Good morning. Just how much have successive UK governments spent - or is the current one due to spend - with Peter Thiel’s Palantir? 🧵⤵️

THE NERVE@thenerve.news

after much deliberation wether to reprint the individual comics again or collect in colour or black and white I have plumped for doing a colour hardback with some extra bits to lean into my European pretensions. My natural fear of crowdfunding withstanding it will be launching soonish…

The ability to pour hundreds of millions of pounds into a loss-making TV channel, bent on wrenching British politics sharply to the right, is yet another of the ways in which extreme wealth is trying to remake UK democracy. It needs to be part of any serious conversation about political funding.

Josiah Mortimer@josiahmortimer.bsky.social

New GB News accounts are out. Here are their losses to date. Or "spent political donations" if you prefer

"Why won't the Pope say machines are alive?" is quite a gripe. There's a point at which we need to have serious conversation about Epstein class money and how these guys should have it taken away from them and given to me, to buy comics.

This is the most remarkable story Ray Bradbury ever shared with me. He told it to me late one night, sitting in his den of antiquities and mementos. Take five minutes to read this. It’s pure magic. #Writing #Living #Creativity #RayBradbury #BookSky

Reading this now but I tell you what, they better not do anything too drastic to my favorite character, the man Alec Holland. I swear to god if some crazy revelation happens regarding the status of the human being who is a swamp monster Alec Holland I’m gonna lose my shit! 😤
