King county has one of the most efficient, safe and secure voting systems in the US. This is intimidation and nothing else.

The U.S. Department of Justice informed King County Elections Director Julie Wise this week that the administration is sending election monitors for the Nov. 3 midterms. It’s unclear what role federal election monitors will play or how many there will be in King County on Election Day.

Americans should get used to wielding their economic power. A lot of people each doing the same "small" thing can have a massive impact.

We stand with local immigrant rights leaders demanding Oscar Bergal's release, a full independent investigation, and immediate release of the body camera footage. And we join them in urging the public not to shop at Target until they stop letting DHS use their parking lot as staging sites for ICE!

We are asking the Seattle Strike community to support Starbucks workers as they fight for a fair contract. Together we are strong 💪 #BoycottStarbucks

🚨BREAKING: Our union of over 12,000 baristas are officially calling for a Starbucks boycott. Read this statement penned by Starbucks workers on why a boycott from ALL customers, allies, and organizations is necessary to fight back against corporate greed:

It’s easy to activate your friends, family, and neighbors to get out the vote. Join us to discuss how we can engage our friends in a strategic conversation about voting, encourage them to bring their own circles to the polls, and prepare our communities to help protect the results of the midterms.

We’ll continue our work with targeted strikes and boycotts as we build towards a massive general strike that will be needed to counter Trump’s attempt to rule as a king.

When Trump attempts to interfere with the midterms, a coalition of Seattle groups will be ready with our most potent tools - the overwhelming power of a strategic general strike in conjunction with coordinated, peaceful, mass civil disobedience.

When workers fight back against the billionaires & of one of the largest megacorporations in the world, instead of caving in to their demands, we must stand in solidarity with them. That's why 50501 is proud to join workers to #BoycottStarbucks until baristas win a fair union contract!

Finally had a chance to read the Seattle city legislation passed last week that extends civil right protections to polyamorous, asexual, and pansexual people and folks in multi-generational and extra-nuclear families. And all I can say is I'm so proud to live in Seattle.🥹

Yep. I keep telling people this. Plastic surgical equipment? Plastic milk jugs and bags? Plastic ground covers and irrigation hose in agriculture? Shortages of these will have much more impact than gas prices.

I think we’re making the wrong case against AI. If we instead wrung our hands because AI might recognize the destructiveness of fossil fuels and autonomously shut down pipelines and refineries to save the planet, or if we argue that

Along with our partners, we will bring the American economy to a standstill until our demands are met. We are drawing a red line to protect our rights and our future as a country.

Labor Day became a national holiday in 1894, partly because it was a convenient way for President Grover Cleveland to appease an angry workforce after he violently broke up the Pullman strike.

Thanks for this, Andrew. Glorious reminder of what we miss in using foreign, colonialist names for the land - and I would say beings - around us in this beautiful place we call home, Cascadia.

BREAKING: the Democratic National Committee just unanimously approved a resolution calling for the abolition of ICE! After terrorizing our friends, families, and neighbors, ICE has no place in our nation. I'm grateful @democrats.org agreed. Now we're onto the hard work to make that happen!

In a fascinating historical turn, Hasegawa walks through the founding of the Bank of North Dakota over a century ago, revealing how the agrarian movement behind the bank actually drew inspiration from progressive public ownership projects underway in Seattle at the time.

This talk was great. A state bank in WA could bring many benefits - cost savings, reduced interest rates, the ability to invest public deposits toward shared goals, & return profits to the public purse. There is tremendous power in owning our own bank. Hope legislators find the courage to do it.

How can #Cascadia increase its fiscal autonomy? Creating state public banks in Oregon and Washington. North Dakota, a deeply red state, has the only public bank in the US and it pumps billions of dollars back into the local economy: www.cascadia-journal.com/cascadia-sho...

We should be asking why Washington continues to give its deposits to speculating investment banks and fascists. We can keep them in state and do so much more for ourselves. this is not a new innovation!

Cascadia Journal@cascadiajournal.bsky.social

After a talk last night in Seattle by the director of the Bank of North Dakota, I came away even more convinced that Oregon and Washington need to make creating state public banks a high legislative priority: www.cascadia-journal.com/cascadia-sho...
