So glad ICE is in Chicago. The city is a lawless hell-scape. Blues musicians wrecking hundreds of police cars. High schoolers doing weird scientific sex experiments. Kids home alone during the holidays. Women killing their husbands and lovers and then SINGING about it sassily. This has to stop.

It is the week of my sister's nuptials. I have so much to do before I head out for it and I'm so excited for her. I just need that adrenaline rush of hyper focus to last me a little longer. I worked on her wedding gift pretty much all weekend and I'm almost done but 90% is not complete.

RFK Jr. rolled out that old chestnut again about how healthy Americans were in the 60’s, so here’s a fact check. In 1965: -42% of American adults smoked; it’s 11% now. -The infant morality rate was 24.7/1000; it’s 5.6/1000 now. -Overall life expectancy was 70 years; it's about 77 years now.

This seems like a waste of time and resources. Not like they actually do anything when MO voters pass liberal policies via ballot initiatives. See abortion rights, sick leave, Medicaid expansion for a few examples

Gov. Pritzker: This is not about fighting crime. This is about Trump searching for any justification to deploy the military in a blue city to try and intimidate his political rivals. This is about Trump searching for ways to circumvent our democracy, militarize our cities, and end elections

Donald Trump says he is going to deploy the National Guard to Chicago. This is what weak men do to pretend they’re strong. Stay safe, stand with your community, and most importantly, know your rights:

watching my kid do her homework on her computer is incredibly frustrating. She's doing an assignment (which allows the teacher to see if it was completed, etc) but she has to take a screenshot of her result and put it into another app to get credit. And the due dates are wrong, of course

if i'm reading the order correctly here, this means there's a 50% tariff on washing machines (and other household goods that I don't feel like pulling out the HS codes for) www.reuters.com/business/us-...

My team deployed to production so bringing in cake tomorrow, but it only has one product in it so I made mini cupcakes. Mini cupcakes are so much harder than one big cake. I'm exhausted 😩

My company does science outreach within the community and the latest round of experiments are AI focused. Teaching kids about generative AI, what it is and how to recognize it and thinking critically about it. Will be interesting to hear how & what these young kids feel about AI.

Constantly ignoring the will of the voters. And trying to make it harder to get ballot initiatives.

Robert Reich@rbreich.bsky.social

Last year, a majority of voters in Missouri passed a ballot initiative enacting paid sick leave. This year, Missouri's Republican governor signed legislation repealing it. Do Republicans ever listen to the will of their voters?

Most of the people saying "it is just like 1984" are pointing out exact scenarios laid out by Butler. Down to the climate change, the motto, everything.

I still can't believe it took me 38 years to discover Octavia E Butler! how was she not covered in school??

When Hasan Piker bought a $2.7 million house in LA for him and his family to live in, critics said he wasn’t a real socialist because it’s too expensive. When Zohran Mamdani rents a $2,300 a month apartment in NYC, critics say it’s too cheap for him and he’s not a real socialist. It’s all bad faith

Maybe a weird question - but did anyone I know on here do the NROTC route to the Navy? I have a coworker whose senior is thinking of this route and I have a lot of family in various branches but none in the Navy. Her mom would really like to connect her with someone with experience. Hit me up. Thx!

Texas Democrats aren’t running away from anything. They’re fighting, with every tool they have, to save our democracy. Kudos to each and every one of them for taking this stand. We should be inspired by their courage and reminded that tyranny is only possible if we submit to it.
