Today, we are introducing the public beta of the »Fur You« feed. 🐾 After our popularity-based Hot feeds, it is our first true algorithmic feed. It seeks to prioritize posts that are relevant to you from accounts on Furrylist. :3

The Fur You feed is based on accounts that are followed by us, just like any other feed. However, unlike the other feeds, it uses your posts and likes to find relevant posts, which we only track if you're part of the list and followed by us. To join the feeds, just give us a follow!

we just upgraded our database (postgres) from version 16 to 18, with almost zero downtime 🫡 you shouldn't notice anything, except that the feeds might load a little bit faster :3

and we're fully back! sorry again folks! if i have the time and people are interested, i'll write up a small incident review why and how this happened. (tldr: 11pm dogbrain in production)

we're aware that the feeds are erroring with a 502 error. a routine maintenance went sideways due to human (dog?) error, so we have to let our database regenerate a bunch of data. we hope to be back within the next 30 minutes. we'll update here!

our database seems to be happy again, so we've turned on the feeds again. it might take a few minutes until they have synced with the rest of the network though. it shouldn't take too long for posts from within the last hour to appear on the feeds.

and we're fully back! sorry again folks! if i have the time and people are interested, i'll write up a small incident review why and how this happened. (tldr: 11pm dogbrain in production)

We've seen a lot of furs get their Bluesky accounts hacked recently. Make sure to use a long, hard to guess password that is unique to your Bluesky account. As an extra layer of security, enable two-factor authentication in Settings → Privacy and Security, so you get an email code when you sign in.

Yes! Never share your account password. And only ever share app passwords with trusted apps. A malicious actor can still use app passwords to do bad things. More modern apps like @tangled.org already use the “Login with Bluesky” flow (OAuth 2), which only allows them access to part of your account.

And for sure, please use a password manager to store your passwords, so you only need to remember one very secure password. People will rightfully recommend against them but even just the Google/Apple password managers are often better than nothing. There are better options too though.

we're temporarily including posts with the #artfight tag in the art feeds as an experiment. we hope this includes more Art Fight furry art. but it might make the feeds less accurate, so if you see too much non-furry art, please let us know!

Recently, @bsky.app started allowing up to ten images per post, up from four. We received reports that posts with more than four images didn't show up on the art feeds. We rolled out a fix yesterday, and now all posts with one or more images are displayed in the art feeds. Thanks everyone! :3
