Former law student turned paralegal turned law school student again. Thirty-something. I believe the Constitution was not written on an Etch-A-Sketch. New England-ish.

Eddie Bauer > LL Bean by all metrics. There. I said what I said. My "rugged" winter LL Bean coat shredded at the seams, zippers broke with 2 years of casual VT use. My EB coat? More pockets, no seam wear, no zipper issues. Solid as a brick house. RIP Eddie Bauer.

Had a disheartening conversation with a fellow 3L yesterday. She's planning to go to med school after graduation because "all this is clearly bullshit now." Many graduating students feel this way. If I were younger, I'd join them.

As Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis stated in 1933; “We can have democracy in this country or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of the few, but we cannot have both.” Today, at a time of unprecedented income & wealth inequality, his words ring truer than ever.

Just so we're all clear, when any NRA shill in Congress says, "Thoughts and prayers," what they're actually saying is, "We've made a policy decision that this is okay. They weren't our kids and that's all that matters to us."

I propose we turn the student loan industry against the gun lobby. We certainly can't appeal to their humanity. This is enraging. My heart breaks for these students & their families I'm now more focused on memorizing emergency exits than I my exam materials.

This is the correct explanation of what happened tonight👇

KBJ threaded the needle thanks to CA1’s unfinished business. -if she denied the admin stay, the full SCOTUS woulda stepped in to override her. -if she immediately referred the case to the full Court, they coulda dragged feet. -instead she boxed them in to act quickly once she does refer the case.

It's time to acknowledge reality:   Our health system is broken. It's time to guarantee good-quality care to every man, woman & child in this country.   Our campaign finance system is broken. It's time to get rid of Citizens United and publicly fund elections.   Let’s do it.

The cognitive dissonance is nauseating.. "Community members attend a religious service in a designated 'Free Speech Zone' outside ICE facility.." Same administration that *removed* federal protection zones around "abortion clinics" (ie. *women's healthcare* clinics) because... "free speech."

The government shutdown is undermining the Office on Violence Against Women 🚨🚨🚨 More than 100 of their 120 employees have been furloughed, bringing their lifesaving work to a halt. This will have devastating impacts on women across the nation.

It doesn’t matter if you’re working class or a billionaire: climate change will hurt your grandchildren. That’s why I cannot understand oil executives who sacrifice the planet’s health for their short-term profits We must transform our energy system away from fossil fuels NOW.

We're studying the 4th Amendment in Criminal Procedure. Instead of opening Thursday's class (9/11/25) discussing the recent #SCOTUS decision legalizing racism (under 4th Amendment) or lasting effects of the Patriot Act, prof. started w/ #CharlieKirk & why it was bad. No mention of #CO shooting.

theguardian.comUS supreme court ‘effectively legalized racial profiling’, immigration experts warnCourt ruled federal agents can stop people in LA based on race, language, job or location amid Trump’s crackdown

Trying to trace which judge started the "deeply rooted in history & traditions" line so beloved by today's #SCOTUS. Do they even garden? Someday I'll write a book tracing this phrase for a book called "Pot-Bound: How the Supreme Court Asphyxiated the Constitution."

GOP responses to mass shootings: Step 1: Blame it on mental health, not guns Step 2: Vote to cut funding for mental health Repeat I live outside the US, and I can assure you: the rest of the world has people with mental health problems. What they don't have is easy access to unlimited guns.

forkingpaths.coIt's the Guns.America is the only rich democracy that features the routine mass slaughter of its citizens with guns. Why does this happen? The data show a really clear picture: It's the guns. Yes, it's that simple.
Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

RADDATZ: You talk about what can be done. After shootings in Buffalo & Uvalde, Congress passed a bipartisan Safer Communities Act. It provided hundreds of millions for schools to expand mental health services. You didn't vote for it. Why? TOM EMMER: I don't remember the reasons I didn't vote for it

Roberts, Barrett, and Kavanaugh are quickly leading us on a path to our generation's Korematsu if they don't grow spines. Look at this:

The "Big, Beautiful Bill" was originally called "Shameful, Self-Enriching" but was given an AI marketing makeover?(probably).

If the Senate's budget is enacted, millions will lose health insurance, millions will fall into poverty, and the national debt will increase by $3.3T. All of this to provide a major tax cut mainly to the rich and big corporations. There is no justification for this.

In writing, Trump's judicial nominees have all signaled their support for his election denier conspiracy theories, and their willingness to end birthright citizenship. But Senate Democrats didn't challenge the nominees on these answers when they had the chance. Most of them didn't even show up.

new from me for @wired.com : the EPA is moving to reorganize its scientific research office, which will likely kill off a small but crucial program devoted to studying the impacts of toxic chemicals—which has been a target of industry groups for years

The oil industry buys off Congress. No action on climate. The NRA buys off Congress. No action on guns. Insurance companies buy off Congress. No action on health care. The list goes on and on. Money in politics is the root of our dysfunction.
