A great @pablo.show ep on Trump's war on public DC courses

East Potomac costs $42 to play and hosts thousands of people each year. A lot of the players are beginners. A lot of them don't have that much money. A lot of them are black. This is the course Donald Trump has decided shouldn't exist, and in the past, he's been fairly explicit about why not

Broadcasters have a First Amendment right to report polling data, even if it proves to be inaccurate, just like they have a First Amendment right to report on Brendan Carr and Trump’s own countless lies, even when they turn out to be inaccurate. More:

The POTUS and VP hyping the Acton ad is like Springfield “eating the pets”. You think the guys at the highest levels won’t go so low — surely they’ll leave the gutter swimming to their minions — but no they will absolutely go to the depths. You have to conclude, they like it.

🧊 ICE IS A MASSIVE GRIFT 💰

Project Salt Box@projectsaltbox.com

Replace "Boeing 737s" with "empty warehouses" and you've got the same play that DHS under Noem pulled. And a source on background told us in February the sales were meant to help well-connected Trump affiliates offload industrial properties that were liabilities on their books.

The remarkable thing is that they have not done so yet, either individually or what would be even better, collectively.

Sen. Angus King says he sat down and made a list of everything Putin could possibly want from an American president. His conclusion about Trump? “This guy, this president, is doing almost all of them.” King then goes through the list. WATCH.

NEW: The Trump admin just cut the time that a refugee has to submit a formal response or an objection to a Notice of Intent to Terminate refugee status from the current period of 30 days to just 10 days. This new rule, issued without the normal notice and comment process, goes into effect tomorrow.

In a communist system, the government owns the means of production. The Cato Institute is tracking how the Trump regime is steadily acquiring shares of private companies, taking ownership of the means of production.

Election bullshit Bingo! “Every square is a trope — a recurring story element from real election rumors. Line up five in a row (across, down, or diagonally) and you’ve got BINGO. The center square is a free space.”

It's Oct 3. The midterms are a month away, but early voting has already begun in some states. Mail-in ballots will start circulating soon. Some of the usual suspects are already pushing the same "rigged election" rumors we've all heard before. This year, you can play along at home. bingo.cip.uw.edu

If Trump just takes money appropriated by Congress for a specific purpose & seizes it to use it for an entirely different purpose, what is the point of having a Congress or appropriating money for anything? I’m sure the Senate Appropriations Chair Susan Collins must be concerned.

Vought is breaking the law but he is not “going rogue.” At his confirmation hearings, Vought told Republicans he would do this and they voted for him anyway. If they want to stop him, they still can via impeachment. They won’t.

Trump has frequently insisted that other countries were “laughing” at the US. But he’s done something worse: Turn the US into a dispensable ally, a patsy for China, a punchline for Canada, a defeated power hobbled by the Middle East, and a human rights miscreant.

Here's a gift link to my 9/11 essay in the NYT. Civil libertarians long warned that before giving government new powers, we should consider how an administration with authoritarian ambition might abuse them. We were told that America was too exceptional to elect such a person. Well here we are.

Most headlines refer to this as "misspent" or "misappropriated". Whether by a legal definition it's "stole" those other words GREATLY understate what happened. They took $10M of public money for childrens health care and laundered it thru a string of orgs to get it into a political campaign account.

Jon Cooper@joncooper-us.bsky.social

Democrats are using a leaked grand jury report on Hope Florida as a fresh line of attack against Sunshine State GOP incumbents, seizing on findings that Gov. Ron DeSantis' administration "misappropriated" $10 million in taxpayer funds from a health care settlement intended to help needy children.

Among the *many* problems with Pete Hegseth hitting the campaign trail again: The White House increasingly sees Cabinet secretaries as little more than pieces on an electoral chess board to be moved around to the benefit Republicans, ethics laws be damned. www.ms.now/rachel-maddo...
