It's been a while since Steve Bell made me smile , but as a terrible lefty kid I used to love "If" (even if I didn't understand all of it) . I had the original of this frame cut from the paper above my desk for years . I just liked the composition and brutal absurdity #comics

I remember Bernard Levin claiming he liked to travel light and would tear out the page of his book once he'd read it. Think Bill Drummond claimed to do something similar, but then again he would, wouldn't he.

The rest of world : "let's have an election this time next month " America: "let's never stop having elections. Let's wang on about them FOREVER , with endless "primaries" and randomly saying gubernatorial like it's a real word"

I see they are still punting Johnny Depp's A Christmas Carol sorry "Ebenezer" as a break from the 100's of previous adaptations. #filmsky

Quick, quick one of the 6 comedians who appear on 8 out 10 Cats/ Mock the Week/Taskmaster and EVERY PODCAST is going to be interviewed on the radio....

Yep always raises the spirits, one of my favourite movie moments. Have begun to think maybe Americans just have really rubbish clubs and they are all verité

Delighted to have a new entry in my Shit Movie Nightclubs collection thanks to Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning

Just watched "Ran" which was brilliant and has a perfect ending for Sunday evening: a blind man alone on the edge of a cliff literally abandoned by the gods. #filmsky Happy Sunday folks !

I know railing against folk waving around tiny furry mics on clips is a pet peeve of this corner of BS, so I enjoyed this design commentator playfully/knowingly using a Philippe Starck lemon squeezer as a hand mic. 🙂

Just wrapped some presents, something blokes aren't meant to be good at or enjoy doing, because you know uz blokes hate doing things with our hands , you know making things , measuring, cutting, folding, you know all that stuff

I love the way on my T/L the moment rain splattered on the window this afternoon, everyone went pell mell for their casseroles and started turning out dumplings , toad in the hole and probably Sussex Pond puddings. We're a nation with suet in our veins

It’s 11-13 degrees outside today, depending on where you are in the UK. This is also the recommended serving temperature range for cask ale. So this is my annual invitation to anyone who thinks cask is served “warm” to go outside in your summer clothes and let us know how you get on.

This was great fun on a rainy afternoon my favourite sort of podcast; knowledgeable people enthusing about things they love and having a bit of a laugh while doing it.

🙂 I cannot overstate how purely enjoyable this edition is, with @joemuggs.bsky.social enthusing like mad for the glory days of techno and winning over @msmirandasawyer.bsky.social. 🙂 Jeff Mills, Daft Punk, even it it’s old junk/It’s still NOSEBLEED RAVE to me 🙂 Listen linktr.ee/talk90stome

I think it was probably a re-release of "The Aristocats" (possibly in Hull) I was super young I think it had a supporting film of one of Disney's Wildlife shorts, which featured a snarling Mountain Lion.

First film you saw at the cinema. The real first one, not the pretend one you tell people! Mine: The Empire Strikes Back, 1980, Wigan. We were near the front and I can still remember how massive the AT-ATs looked, looming over us out of the snow :) Film, year, where, and whatever stuck with you.

We weren't a cinema family, plus kids films weren't as common as they are these days. I also remember being shown "Godspell" in a church hall and also a young bloke from church showing 16mm Warner Bros cartoon in our FRONT ROOM!

Look where else, do you get shows like this about such major important figures. TV has given up on arts programming.

I made a little show as an extra for BBC Radio 4 Extra (pretty much in my own time): it’s being repeated to mark 20 years since the death of Nigel Kneale. This sort of bonus (dare I say it Reithian?) content will not be possible once the station goes in March. Enjoy: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...

Case in point about the value of 4Extra, just turned on the kitchen radio and up pops Adrian Scarborough reading "Candide" by Voltaire www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

Really terrible it's 50% of my listening, tbh I watch v little BBC tv so losing 40% of my reason to pay my licence fee isn't much motivation to support the BEEB. I fear #6music will stop being "live to air" shortly . Our governments have failed us on this .

They are feckin' spreading, there's another one two houses up from me! It's like living in a shite Shelob's lair .

Been for a stroll round the estates & I can provide a Manky Xmas aka Hallowe'en update. At least 12 houses had exactly the same crappy decoration strung up In front of their house, a springy triangular spiders web with a large spider dangling from it. It managed to look crap, cheap & not scary
