I know folks get real mad when I say this but in times of widespread security crisis, static sites sure are nice

The details are now public, as of two hours ago. bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi... The secret P-384 keys for these intermediate CAs are all zeros except the last 8 bits. All not-updated software can be MITM'ed now. IOT boxes that can't or don't update are now trivially MITM'able forever.

If you make HTTPS requests or have other TLS clients and care about MITM attacks, you need to update today. If you run Go: go get go@1.27.3 If you run Homebrew: brew update brew install ca-certificates If you run Linux, maybe stay off the internet for now.

Just finished watching season 19 of Jet Lag: the Game on @nebula.tv. If you haven't checked this show out yet, you really should. This was definitely my favourite season so far! Excited to see what's next on season 20.

There have been so many WTF moments this season, and most of them have been traced back to software doing something weird. This was by far the weirdest. Something really needs to change here. It seems insane to me that there's a roll of the dice every time a driver presses the throttle. #F1

I.T.'s job is to provide a protective shield around an organization. User actions are like little "pores" in this shield, as people often need to escape the shield to do their jobs. And you know what they say: I.T. never reigns I.T. pores.

This thread is insane. It also very much confirms my priors about British Airways.

sarah jeong@sarahjeong.bsky.social

lol my flight got diverted because of a medical emergency and they landed us in reykjavik in the middle of the night and deplaned us and sent us through passport control and then the crew vanished and then british airways sent us links to book an overnight hotel room but for a hotel at heathrow

Same goes for your words! It's never been easier to get your own website up and running. If you're a bit of a nerd, it can also be hosted for free using Netlify or GitHub Pages!

I realize that "hosting for free" is a bit incongruous with the quoted post, but the key is owning your own domain. I host on GitHub Pages, but my website is statically generated locally. Moving to a different host would be annoying, but it'd only take an hour or two.

I grumble a lot about Liquid Glass, but it's because I'm torn between loving the effect and being annoyed by readability issues. I also massively prefer dark mode, and even the clearest appearance now has a bit of a milky hue in dark mode now. After testing clear modes, I'm back to full tinted.

But even still, I think the version of tinted in 27 is a downgrade. In 26's dark mode, there was a good amount of contrast and still quite a bit of the glassy effect. Now it's a lower-contrast, lighter, matte finish. Overall, I prefer the 27 OSs, but this feels like a step backwards.

I love the new Device Hub in Xcode 27. So much better than the Simulator! Now you have key display options available in a sidebar, and they update the device in real time. Also, you can actually change Liquid Glass settings now! Huge time saver, and great for screenshots.

Today, I’m proud to announce Homebrew 7.0.0. The most significant changes since 6.0.0 are faster installations, stronger sandboxing, native macOS app, vulnerability checks, advisory database, end of macOS 10.15 support and Intel Macs to Tier 3.

Family trips, Scouts Canada, then Skills Canada (I competed, then volunteered, for a total of 10 years) took me to every province. All the travel west of Ontario was on Skills Canada's dime, which really helped. Haven't been to any territories, though.

I wonder how many Canadians have been to more than five provinces. I’d bet it’s less than half. Fewer still if you included even one territory. It’s a fascinating thing to think about when you compare to other countries: we are hundreds — thousands! — of kilometers away from our fellow citizens

If you're in the Apple ecosystem, you should check out Indigo. It's a single app for both Mastodon and Bluesky. Free a slot on your homescreen! (it also works well — and is now cheaper — for only one network) @vegh.ca and @benricem.bsky.social have built something really special here.

Based on feedback, some people weren't finding the link to the visualization. I've added a more prominent link and a partial screenshot that you can click through.

With macOS 27, we’ve refined the experience from top to bottom, while still making sure to keep classic experiences that users have come to expect from their Mac
