Westerns & the Old West@davidlambertart.bsky.social

One of the lesser known outlaws of the Old West was Rufus Nephew, aka Climax Jim. That's unfortunate because the man's life was a never ending series of crimes, arrests, acquittals, convictions & daring escapes. Here's a sampling of some of his very stupid adventures... ๐Ÿงต

Every reporter covering national politics should be calling, texting, or emailing their contacts in Congress and looking at police reports.

Trump: "In Washington, all the restaurants were closing. People were being held up. They'd walk into a restaurant. Like Jesse James. 'Stand up! Give us all your money.' They're eating dinner at a fancy restaurant. All the restaurants were closing."

So... they knew what they were doing was illegal.

I'm one away from Walter Hill, so I'm more excited about that now.

To flip some discourse script for a bit: whatโ€™s yโ€™allโ€™s Obama number (ie degrees of separation with the former president)? Mine is 3

Working on one of my upcoming essays, and I still chuckle when I think about the movie "Enemy of the State." My friend, Eric, had the best comment at the time: "We're supposed to feel safe with the NSA when it's a bunch of guys wearing plaid and listening to Goo Goo Dolls?"

"The candidate is not responsible for the content of this advertisement." That's just a fancy way of saying, "Look, we all know this is bullshit, but we don't care because there are voters out there who we recognize are kind of not smart."

It's overplayed and ridiculous, but the film features a character who makes a HUGE breakfast before school. Enough to feed at least a dozen people. The kid takes a bite (or not) and leaves. THAT NEVER HAPPENS. It needs to stop. By the time I was eight, I was pouring my own cereal and milk.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl "For too long I've been parched with thirst and unable to quench it. Too long I've been starving to death and haven't died. I feel nothing... not the wind on my face nor the spray of the sea, nor the warmth of a woman's flesh."

Chaotic Plotter-Pantser I start with the climax and go from there. After the climax, I'll write what happens next. Then I'll write what happens before the climax. 1/2 #WeeknightWriters

Q1: Since we're talking about plot, we figured it would be fun to see how you plot! Based on this nifty chart, what is your plotting/writing style alignment? #WeeknightWriters

I'll go back and forth until I reach the ending first. Then I'll write the beginning. From there, I'm going back and forth from the beginning to where I left off before the climax. 2/2 #WeeknightWriters
