We know there's no limit to the perfidy of which Trump regime is capable. So is it so unbelievable that the crippling of national intelligence is throwing out a welcome mat to would-be terrorists who could provide Trump with an excuse to declare a national emergency and declare martial law?

U.S. military spending is set to hit a record $1.5 trillion. Roughly half of defense spending goes to private contractors that routinely price-gouge the government. Meanwhile, the Pentagon has failed EIGHT straight audits. The military industrial complex is cheering today.

Iran did not pose an immediate threat to the United States. Trump has admitted this is a regime change war. He did this without congressional authorization. This is an unconstitutional action. Worse, he clearly has no plan for what comes next. It’s a Mad King war.

Newsom: We’ve got to deal with the bullshit from the other side — the propaganda networks, the 24/7 swift-boating the likes of which we’ve never seen aided by billionaires who are consolidating the media, aided and abetted by people bending down on their knees to suck up to this administration —

“It’s no longer a political calculus. It’s a moral and legal and Constitutional obligation of Congress to [impeach]. It would be a violation of the oath of office for a member of Congress not to push for impeachment when it is possible.”

Democracy is dying in America. ICE is a murderous secret police force. We’re about to bomb Iran for Israel. Your kids are shot at in school daily, and pedophiles run our government. There’s no healthcare, and your food is poisonous. We need real leaders - not career politicians.

The ICE surge in Minnesota cost $280M to detain 4k people. Of those- only 30 were accused of violent crimes. $9 million per capture of the "worst of the worst". Renee Good and Alex Pretti were unavailable for comment….

When oligarchs talk of “personal liberties and free markets” they mean their own liberties to become even richer and more powerful. When oligarchs speak of “freedom,” what they actually seek is freedom from accountability. Know the truth.

@velshi.com I don't believe for one moment that all those for-profit "detention centers" are being built to house undocumented immigrants alone. Trump always push things to the limit, especially when there's money to be squeezed out of taxpayers. Would you really be surprised if they start

When you agree to pass 5 of 6 appropriations bills, then you later agree to pass funding for everything that is in the 6th bill except for one agency (ICE) that has already been prefunded in a previous bill, you are giving up every bit of leverage you have and selling out.

AOC: We are going to have to reckon, as a country, with this time. And I hope that that reckoning includes prosecution of people who are involved with the lawbreaking and human rights violations they are knowingly engaging in right now.

🚨🚨🚨 Trump murdered an ICU nurse THEN called him a terrorist. Alex Pretti saved lives for a living. Trump repaid this American citizen with TEN BULLETS and is now lying about it. Anyone who supports this brutal lynching should be considered an accomplice and dealt with accordingly. 🚨🚨🚨

@aoc.bsky.social Representative AOC, were it up to me, ICE would be abolished. Since I'm not calling the shots, I ask that future negotiations about the DHS budget and ICE include two preconditions, viz, to limit the number of ICE agents to a number fewer than the current 22,000, and to

remove financial incentives for satisfying arrest quotas. As for unmasking and body cameras, that goes without saying. And don't be afraid to call ICE what it is, Trump's fascist goon squad.

AOC on ICE: It’s our task to figure out how to claw back what has essentially supercharged this agency into becoming a relentless domestic paramilitary that is also a blank check to Palantir to create facial-recognition scans on U.S. citizens.

Amazon Web Services hosts massive surveillance systems for both ICE and DHS. Citizens Bank provides nearly $1 trillion in credit & bonds to private prison companies. AT&T has a $147 million contract to provide communications services to DHS. Know who is profiting from ICE’s cruelty.

Minnesota National Guard members have arrived at a federal building and were directed to distribute donuts, coffee, and hot chocolate to anti-ICE protesters. Guard members were issued reflective vests so they would not be mistaken for federal agents.

i think this attitude — that all opposition is illegitimate and nothing we do can be questioned— is probably pervasive in the white house and helps explain why they keep making terrible political choices

Jan-Werner Mueller@jwmueller-pu.bsky.social

Putin pioneered this. No opposition is legitimate. Regular, decent, “ordinary” people cannot possibly be against us because only we represent “the real people.” Tell-tale sign of authoritarianism.

The people who spent years defending and even lionizing Kyle Rittenhouse and Ashli Babbitt now want us to believe that an unarmed mother in her car and a disarmed nurse were domestic terrorists who deserved to be murdered by law enforcement.
