Well I guess on the up side, I might be able to stay awake long enough to see the end of this game. 🏏🇳🇿🇮🇳

If you are not enrolled or unsure we have procedures in place via the Special Vote. JUST DO NOT BE AN ABSOLUTE SHIT MONKEY to the Voting Assistants or Issuing Officers okay. They will assist you

Don’t let ANYONE tell you you can’t vote! Cast a special vote NO MATTER WHAT. It will then be counted as a disallowed vote and we will be able to see how much this evil government cheated. #nzpol

A few years ago, I joined my then-partner's well-established roleplaying group. A couple of the guys I didn't know did a joke-hassle, and to explain it, one of them said, "I work for IRD. Please don't hate me." I replied, "Why would I? Tax is how we pay for things. No tax, no things."

He was astonished and relieved, because he never gets that reaction. Our Default is "Boo, taxes", which, WHY? We generally like teachers and nurses and firefighters, right? Imagine the health system we could have if a few very rich people paid a wee bit more tax.

There is no way, absolutely NO WAY, to fix the health system without an enormous amount of money. Like, a 25 km of highway amount of money. Where tf do people think that is going to come from?

Oh shit, it's not Monday, it's Tuesday. Tuesday is Meeting Morning. I hate Meeting Morning. (A friend said, "But then you don't have to work," and I'm all "I would rather work thank you very much."

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

Not Chris Luxon making a special vote today after emphasising the time it takes to count them (to quote Chief Electoral Officer Karl Le Quesne, “what slows the process is the growing number of special votes”) and using that as an excuse to unjustifiably limit people’s right to vote 💀 booooo #nzpol

Okay, so it turns out the question I should have been asking Min very early this morning was not, "What are you being such a cock?", it was "Where is the front end of the mouse?"

Regimen, highly qualified medical specialist. Regimen, not regiment. I would love a health care regiment. They could march in and rub my back and give me a nice drink and my medication.

It is so weird how the Labour strategy of attacking the Greens and TPM, without whom they cannot govern, has backfired so fucking spectacularly.

Sat down in the hairdresser's chair. She immediately started picking bits of leaf out of my hair. But she has curly hair too, so she understands.

One, that's not how you shear a fucking sheep. Two, I mean, come on, this is New Zealand. That sheep should be sexier.

This post is unavailable.

Also. YOU DO NOT NEED ID TO ENROL. You don't need proof of address or identity. All you need to either enrol or vote is yourself.

If you’re on the eastside of Ōtautahi and know a young person who hasn’t enrolled to vote there are other young folks ready and waiting to enroll them at Eastgate Mall.

You thought the gangs thing was bad, wait until they find out how much underwear the Greens have sold to me and people I know.

I am really struggling to concentrate on work this morning because it is a lovely day and I want to go outside and play*. *work in the garden

About to start watching all of The Diplomat series 4 over the next couple of days, and srsly, this seems to be a criminally underwatched show among my West-Wing-loving cohort. One episode should be enough to know if you're going to like it.

So we fly a pride flag in our front yard in a very conservative neighborhood and it’s been there for the last few years. Someone put this in our mailbox and my goodness…

In previous years, I have noted the way the Labour Party appears to believe my sons are a couple, by the way they address the mail they send them. Today? Younger Son showed me the letter and said, "Look, we're a thruple." They'd included me as well.

I am... reasonably professional with work. But. I do have a sliding scale of performance based on quality of dictation. It goes from "I make you sound as smart as you are" through "I type _exactly_ what you say" to "I timestamp every yawn, mumble, slur, etc, so you have to listen to yourself".

I have just been out in my front garden. It is warm and still. I have jasmine, wisteria, clematis, sweet peas and freesias out and it smells wonderful. Magical. This is my happy place.

I picked up this book from the library on the off chance, and it was perfectly fine, familiar plot elements to anyone who’s read Jasper Fforde or Genevieve Cogman. And then, three-quarters of the way through, it did the most astonishing heel turn that I am still thinking about. Loved it.

People can’t access primary care. Waiting lists have blown out, if you can even get on one. People can’t afford decent food and housing. I can’t imagine why more people are sicker for longer.

“Now, there's one of two failings: either New Zealand has become a much sicker place in the last seven years, or we have got a lot worse at managing and helping people who could be working. And I suspect it's the latter…” One word Seymour: pandemic. Have to write something on this I guess...

One thing about my job I wasn't really expecting: I have a real appreciation for how long a second is. For example, this morning I have a bunch of Vascular files that are 5 seconds long. They are 25 words apiece. Five words per second, which is a brisk but not insane speaking pace.
