Keeping it anon-ish here... Maybe the only unique thing about me as one of the wave of fresh Skysters is that I have never been on Xitter.

The question isn't whether we can get rid of Trump. The question is whether the post-Trump Republican party is going to remain a fascist party, and just push forward some other strongman to commit the same abuses they're supporting now.

Who is actually getting rich off of the AI boom? Far as I can see, only the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company. Even NVidia could end up losing, as they are loaning money to their broke customers to keep them ordering chips. We've built a conveyor belt for moving dollars to Taiwan.

Just dreamed I was working on some production in a hotel and @bobchipman.bsky.social was doing the sound. Then was helping him pack stuff in a boat to leave, got briefly diverted, and two busybodies thought I was stealing his stuff because I wasn't a hotel guest. Confronted me in... a preschool?

I don't think I believe that autism is a thing. I don't mean that it's nothing, I mean it's many things. Like, there are multiple circumstances and conditions which can present similarly. There are multiple competing theories of what autism actually is, and they might all be correct.

Yes, this is sold on Amazomg. He also has books on scrotomancy, clitomancy, and several other techniques of divination from body parts.

I've mentioned before I've updated my contracts to make sure everything in the production of my books is done by humans and not "AI"; if you're wondering what such a thing looks like, here's a clause covering that from a recent contract.

I want to rank Trumpsky's top ten lies. Please suggest nominations for which of his lies stand above all the little everyday ones. Lies that are at least the equal of "They're eating the dogs, they're eating the cats."

The AI bubble is fueled by borrowing, and the lenders are increasingly unwilling. The interest rates they're borrowing at are spiking way above the already climbing general market, because lenders are finally losing the confidence they never should have had in the first place.

Bubbles in general have two kinds of investors: naive suckers who believe the hype, and parasites who intentionally ride the climb in order to take advantage of the suckers. What gets me about the AI bubble is how many of the investors are banks, which should not be either of those types.

If some abusive corporation comes to your town and barges through local opposition to start building a data center... don't worry, the money will disappear and the venture will collapse before any of the servers are turned on. At this point they probably won't even be able to finish the building.

I double-checked this on a couple of Xitter stat sites and it's true. Average views of the main AfD account dropped 90% and average engagement dropped by 60%. This is commercial social media for you: bots, damn bots and Russian bots.

We’ve been talking about this for years. None of these far-right movements are organic.

They are frustrated that we are not as fascist and cruel as they are. In ye olde times when public executions were routine, crime and violence were way more common than today. Life was cheap.

Man, when BMW says "that's too fascist for us"

e.w. niedermeyer@niedermeyer.online

just to emphasize what's happening here: BMW (a company that used slave labor under the Nazis) refused to provide an official vehicle to the ultra right-wing AfD party, which is now asking Elon Musk to provide a Tesla instead Tesla literally becoming the Nazi car brand

Trumpsky loves data centers in your town. (Not where he lives, of course.) The ones being planned now aren't even going to be built. Many of the ones being built now will never be completed. Because it's a ponzi bubble that's already run out of growth. But to him, that's prosperity.

For everyone who spent #MeToo fretting “what if this goes too far?”—be of good cheer! It turns out we didn’t go too far at all! It turns out we didn’t nearly far enough! Good job guys!

They have been packing the court with election stealers.

Subverting democracy isn't new to John Roberts, Brett Kavanaugh, or Amy Coney Barrett. All three were on George W. Bush's "Florida Recount Team," which lay the groundwork for stopping vote counting in Florida—and Bush v. Gore, the politically-motivated SCOTUS decision that gave Bush the election.

DO NOT just perform the usual establishment courtesy habit of conceding races with an uncertain count. Make sure who actually won.

If a Dem loses a close race in one of those GOP-run states, I don’t wsnt to see thrm just concede. Bring on the lawyers and challenge it. You know they’re cheating.

AI isn't so much intended for replacing you at your job, as for turning your job into something that can be done with lower skill and lower pay under constant pressure and surveillance.

Eventually, once it's actually intelligent, it does replace you. But not me. (Not because I'm as uniquely creative as I'd like to believe, but because I'll be retired.)

The concept of fairness is very deeply ingrained in us. It isn't just a cultural feeling, it's an instinct we share with other social primates. So it's rather mind-blowing that every time and place has political movements dedicated to advancing unfairness by building up hierarchy and privilege.
