54 year old Scottish bampot. Bollocks to Kvatch. Growing old is compulsory, growing up isn't. Let's all do our half-arsed best! I mostly ramble about video games, weird old TV shows and movies.

Grabbing a couple of things to complete my collections in the Steam Halloween sale, complete edition of Zombie Army 4 is 83% off and Dying Light Definitive 10th Anniversary Edition is 80% off, highly recommend both if you don't have them. Also Dead Island original is 90% off, so under two quid.

That's another pair of wired earbuds gone, these ones lasted three-and-a-half months, which is pathetic, especially considering I've been using my wireless ones when out and about. Under warranty so will get replaced, but would love earbuds with cables that don't fail if you look at them funny.

Even worse, my back up pair also finally failed, exactly the same way, cable to left earbud wearing out at the connection to the bud. Absolutely fed up of having to get a new pair every few months. Especially since I've had to downgrade models twice due to Argos no longer selling better ones.

Last night's watches were the 4Ks of Tremors and Chinese Ghost Story, both still fantastic. Tonight was Ju-On The Curse, first of the two TV/home video movies I'd not seen before. Really good stuff.

Ok, I see what everyone was on about with Mushihimesame Futari, that's a damn fine shmup. Right up to #2 in my list of Cave shmups I wish we had modern PC/console ports of, right after Guwange. (90% of my softmodded XBox 360 play so far has been shmups that never got released here)

Watched The Frighteners for the first time with the new Arrow 4K, absolutely loved it, didn't know Jeffrey Coombs, Jake Busey or John Astin were in it, so they were lovely surprises. Another of those movies I always heard was good, always meant to watch but never quite got round to it.

Burnout 3 is underrated as one of the very, very best games of all time because you can show Burnout 3 footage to people two decades later and their reaction will still be "hell yeah, this rules. I wanna play this right now."

To help against misinformation: This is the result of the Saudi Arabian buyout deal. The most ridiculous deal ever made where EA could barely cover the cost of the debt it accrued. A lot of people will attach their personal feelings to the "why" but this is the real reason ^

Had to go and buy rechargable AA batteries and a charger because I forgot you can't just plug the charging cable into the wireless XBox 360 controller and use it wired. Looked at prices for used wired controllers and they were £38 as opposed to £14 for the charger.

Well that went well, everything seems to be working fine, tedious part was backing up the 360's 250Gb drive which took almost four hours. All good now.

Tonight's watches were the Hammer version of Hound Of the Baskervilles and John Carpenter's Prince Of Darkness. Both high up in my comfort horror movies lists.

Tonight's impromptu horror double bill was Mr Vampire (1985) and Dracula AD1972 (1972) as hadn't watched either for a while and just wanted some fun horror, nothing too heavy.

When Grammy-winning musician Rhiannon Giddens begins playing “Old Corn Liquor,” a traditional Black American folk tune, acclaimed Chinese pipa virtuoso Wu Man recognizes similarities to Chinese pentatonic music and spontaneously joins in. The joy on their faces says it all.

Nice, my big Arrow Halloween sal ordder, combined with mynorder at end of last month means I've enough reward points to get a free 4K in the sale when I do my regular order at the end of this month. Probably An American Werewolf In London.

Mild throat infection has progressed to a full on one, with the usual random coughing fits and achey torso mainly due to those. Meant I missed my chance to see Digger at local cinema, since had booked the last showing this afternoon, but wasn't up to it. Going to just rest until Monday.

PSA: The latest NVIDIA App update adds a Default-ON option that allows AI Agents to control the app... Might want to turn it off.. Even aside from being lame AI features, that feels like making security even worse by defaulting it ON.

Last couple of nights, just before bed I've gone back to Vampire Survivors for about an hour since still got a bunch of characters, weapons and other stuff to unlock. Looking forward to diving into Warhammer Survivors next month.

I mean, ffs, if I hadn't already uninstalled the previous rubbish store app and any of the free games installed from it, I'd be doing it now. You're not a competitor, you're a joke.

"We vibe coded a new Epic Games Launcher" because "programming is hard", announce company we're somehow supposed to see as a serious Steam competitor https://bit.ly/4hMHbi5

Thanks to a couple of things being delayed managed a binge in the Arrow Shocktober sale, Phenomena, Tenebrae, Tremors, Time Bandits, Zombie Flesh Eaters, The Visitor 4Ks and Hound Of The Baskervilles and Wandering Ginza Butterfly blu rays ordered. Going to be out of shelf space by end of the month.

I'd already shoved Epic Games into the van, destination tae fuck a while back due to their AI use amd their CEO repeatedly havering shite, so this changes nothing for me, but to reiterate, fuck Epic Games.

NEW: Epic Games has delayed its upcoming (not yet announced) Star Wars + Marvel shooter as it pivots to complete AI game development. "No more hand-written code," a director told staff. All art "generated with full AI workflows." Full scoop: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

So tonight was a couple of horror 4Ks I'd not gotten round to yet, Night Of The Living Dead (1990) and Dawn Of The Dead (1978). Hadn't seen Night 1990 since home video, still really good and both Patricia Tallman and Tony Todd are excellent. Had been a while for Dawn too, still my fave zombie movie.
