Does your fair have dangerous rides that collapse into a trailer that resemble animated elector sets run by persons of questionable smell and character? Is there not a warehouse sized bouncy house of similar bent? Miss me with your faux "State Fair."

Joe Rosales@joeartguy.bsky.social

If I go to an event advertised as a State Fair I want to see large livestock, titanic dangerous machines, and/or folk art and snack food that makes me feel patriotic and question my sanity at the same time. I desire a three-story mining rig next to Corn Washington to activate my childlike wonder

Do... do they realize how good that makes the DSA look? Are they taking advertising money or is this just more free publicity?

I just admitted that I only know in broad strokes what “Vatican 2” is and Justin was like “okay so you know when they release a new edition of D&D”

So we keep expanding the court year after year until grooming, bribing, and paying for justices becomes unaffordable or impractical. I think we have enough judges to keep ahead of the market. I'm willing to bet the billionaires give up at seventy five justices.

Not all seventy five sit in on each hearing. They are picked in random assortment of nine. With so many justices and a random sort, justice can move a lot faster and will be less amenable to paid-for outcomes.

TMZ DC with perhaps the most brutal video from Trump's Great American State Fair, showing Dr. Oz on stage bragging to Dean Cain about how big the crowd is, only for the reporter to pan around and show absolutely nobody is there. Original post: x.com/i/status/207...

Two ICE agents tracked down a woman *inside a polling place* yesterday. Why? They demanded that she take down an Instagram post in which she named Jonathan Ross as the man who shot & killed Renee Good (after the Star Tribune identified Ross). www.syracuse.com/news/2026/06...

We are witnessing MAGA equivalent of destruction of Democratic Party through election of progressive Socialists. If you think this ends well for country, I believe you're sadly mistaken. Extremism on one side simply fuels opposite growth on other side. We need moderates.

Compliance is necessary. The electoral drubbings will continue until morale improves.

Jaime Harrison@jaimeharrison.bsky.social

I say this with no ill will or animosity: if you hate the Democratic Party, then please don’t run for our nomination. Don’t use our resources. Don’t rely on our volunteers. Don’t use our infrastructure. Don’t ask Democrats to invest their time, money, and energy in your campaign.

Trump: "The 350 foot gash, made by a very sharp knife or razors, is actually numerous slashes over a very long 350 foot length. It was purposefully and criminally done, and somebody had to work very hard, probably in the dark of night, to create such a condition."

Yes yes yes. I'd go a step further and say that in addition to ego and narcissism, sadism - the active joy in hurting people under your power - is a big factor as well.

New York Times Opinion@nytopinion.nytimes.com

Some bosses say full-time, in-person work boosts productivity or collaboration. “Our new research reveals that the objection to any work from home is more likely to be driven by something else entirely: ego,” write Adam Grant, Marissa Shandell and Courtney Elliott.

Love this for cops. Please more of this. Nothing will endear you more and show how useful you are. A horse is necessary. Vital. Required even. A+.

Took this video of a guy getting detained and a citation for putting his hand in the water an hour ago.

I'm trying to learn how to prose at my advanced age after several scathing critiques. It hits like learning how to draw a nose all over again. But, like that, there are sparkles that shine through even now. I can convey character well. It's a start. I won't be tempted by AI. I've done this before.

Culture Crave 🍿@culturecrave.co

Hollywood agencies are searching Reddit for short stories and ideas that could be turned into movies following the success of 'Backrooms' (via THR)

I used the word "assiduously" and got accused of using a thesaurus to dress-up my language. I used it in its meant sense: with deliberate care and attention. Is this just modern reading culture?

My favorite part is that the bylaw itself is immediately void as it was never named "The Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Memorial Center." In every photo, it is "The Donald J. Trump and THE John F. Kennedy Memorial Center."

Roger Parloff@rparloff.bsky.social

Trump's emergency plea to the DC Circuit to stop removal of his name from the Kennedy Center included this odd reference to a bylaw that had never been mentioned before in the litigation. It's looking increasingly like it was passed last week—and maybe on Thursday, the day before the petition.

I am still not good at writing. Comics let me shorthand the scenery and jump to dialogue while providing characterization through expression and camera and lighting. I am a toddler at doing it in prose. Time to start on a new ten thousand and hope I finish before darkness comes.

I see we have moved on from "Writing prompts is an art form and skill in itself!" to "Writing prompts is a task you can outsource to a machine to free up all that boring time pretending to work at art."

Just got advertised a YouTube video of someone saying they can tell you how to ask Ai to tell you what and how you should be asking Ai to help you write your novel. If you need robot help to ask for the robot help to write your novel, I think maybe you don’t want to write a novel?

Just a thought but if all you want to do is cosplay being a novelist, you don't need AI. Just put on your crappest sweatshirt, make a cup of tea, open Word to a blank page, then go on Bluesky for the rest of the day, and you're sorted.

The joke is on him and his toadies because it never was the "Donald J Trump and John F. Kennedy" etc. As can be plainly seen, it was "The Donald J Trump and THE John F. Kennedy" etc. By his own rules, his poison pill fails.

Roger Parloff@rparloff.bsky.social

Here Trump asserts that center’s “trustees” passed a poison-pill bylaw that requires return of donations if his name is ever removed. AFAIK this has never been alleged before in the litigation. If true, is another shocking indictment of his board of toadies. 2/5
