University of Nottingham, right now, is cutting 560 jobs. Do we need to rebrand universities as very large, very clean, land-based oil rigs to get government support?

From the govt's press release: "The developer estimates that Jackdaw will create 27 new direct jobs and safeguard 273 existing jobs that would otherwise beโ€ฏlost." Odd that so much is made about this being good for jobs. Your nearest out-of-town supermarket likely generates more jobs.

Watched 'A Man For All Seasons' last night, first time in many years. Still a brilliant film, so many great performances - Schofield and Shaw, of course, as More and Henry are sparkling but i particularly enjoyed Wendy Hiller this time as Alice, she is fabulous.

These French riots are a gift to Trump - Threads (and i assume X is even worse) is flooded with anti immigration posts about them by Trump bots - what was it about a lie being halfway around the world?

Do restaurants charge a cover charge on top of service charge now? I have a mystery 1.99 added to lunch CC charge that was not on the physical bill, nor on the transaction i paid on the app so NOT the amount i agreed to - can they just do that? This was The Ivy Asia in Leeds. #food #restaurants

'Cast Shadows,' (1891) is the perfect example of Emile Friant's paintings during the late 19thC, the majority show a sympathetic theme that stresses devotion and personal reflection, a specific meaning or mood akin to some religious works by William Bouguereau.

Hey folks. In total honesty my tour is NOT selling well. Iโ€™ve sold 30 tickets in a 400 seater in Birmingham, and not much more elsewhere. If you like musical comedy, if you like standup, then please come see my show! And spread the word! The Rachel Parris Songbook tour starts in Nov! Link in bio! ๐ŸŽถ

The Great Sermon handicap is a contest of how long each Vicar will preach their sermon on a given Sunday - to make it sporting, a handicap system is employed to give those who are short and snappy in the pulpit a fighting chance ๐Ÿ˜Š

Revisiting a gem this week. 'The Great Sermon Handicap' and 'The Purity of the Turf' may be my favourite two back to back chapters/stories in the English language. Glorious. #Wodehouse p.s. if if #York, toddle along to The Little Apple bookshop, a fabulous place and a stones throw from the Minster.
