Def feeling brain-cloudy today, but the good thing about worrying just about prioritizing time investment is that I can still find low-impact things to mess about with, and still meet my goals, even if there isn't a lot of forward progress otherwise!

Make stuff. For the love of all that there is, please just keep making stuff! Doesn't matter if it's bad, good etc. Just *keep* making stuff.

I think realizing that it takes thousands of hours to become proficient at any skill has really helped me out in framing practice. It literally doesn't matter how good/bad my attempts are right now (Don't be ROT), since the time on any one individual project is minuscule, multiple projects add up!

Imagine a project that takes you 40 hours to complete. That's 4% of your *first* 1000 hours. It does not matter whether or not you succeeded in the moment. You learn from both experiences! What matters above all else is the time you put into those efforts.

It is the perfect time for Bethesda to hire a bunch of furries and make The Elder Scrolls VI: Elsweyr, with the sexiest cat people ever seen in a video game.

During today's Anki session I kept forgetting the reading for 言葉 ("kotoba"; word), even *immediately after* seeing it on a previous card. I think it alone added 5 minutes onto my study time XD

It's really annoying when TERFs try to argue "Biological reality" (while ignoring certain inconvenient demographics). It just devolves into them trying to assert their perception of reality louder, as if that makes them more correct.

Or like, they try and use different words to say the same thing over and over again. We understood you in the first place. You're just wrong, and bad at arguing.

It is very telling that when confronted with a story about a husband cheating on his wife, so many people will choose to direct their ire not to the husband, but toward the mistress. Especially when the mistress happened to be an employee of the husband, and people refuse to examine those dynamics.

Huh, who would have guessed that when learning a language, listening to comprehensible input, even when it's a bit childish, would be a *MUCH* better experience than trying to force oneself to listen to content that's waaaay above your current level?

It's definitely exciting when you realize you can follow a conversation in a language that you're actively trying to learn.

A helpfully clear exchange here Hasan: "So your argument is that [Minnesota ICE protesters] should stay at home because immigration is a salient issue for Donald Trump. Opposing ICE is only going to help Trump. Wait until we win the election in 2028." Yglesias: "Yes that is what I would have said"

These are standard ML tools we’ve been seeing for years and if they are using gpu and npu cores on device they are actually the ideal way to implement probabilistic modeling into a feature We must stay aware of how companies still are gonna name things in a way stock goes up without being “slop”

Let me share some positive news for a change: Despite all the gloomy headlines today, my understanding is that there are multiple paths actively being explored that would save Arkane Lyon. Anything can happen during negotiations, but at this point I'd be surprised if the studio is shut down.

I have no idea if the "Ingesting as much input as you can" style of language learning works or not, but I do feel exhausted after a few hours of doing so with content I'd otherwise feel relaxed consuming, so at least there is at least some effort being expended lmao!

Also, I'm legit learning things (mostly just picking up words I'm drilling with flaschards atm), so it's not 100% wasted effort in any case.

And honestly I don't think the question of "what is the most efficient way to learn a language" is something that anyone can objectively answer, so it's not something I should be to concerned about as long as I'm able to say I know more today than I did yesterday.

Trans women upsetting sports' "fairness" is shitty bait. the premise has no scientific backing, it doesn't make sense without conflating demographics, and it pretends that sports associations have no mechanisms to handle this without government intervention. Why take that bait in the first place?

(Just to be explicitly clear, this is in response to people saying that it's understandable why some democratic candidates are ceding on this issue. If we are to accept that the republican framing of the issue is bait, then it is shitty bait that democrats absolutely should not be falling for.)

Still slow going, but here's some progress on the horror jam. Got a working inventory, manual reloading system (a bit buggy still), and put in a test environment so I can next implement some simple enemy AI!

Still annoyed how easy it is for people to just assume somebody else is lying because they can't (or don't want to) comprehend the complexities of real people who don't hold the same biases they do.

Like, why even go into a long conversation that nobody is paying attention to if your only conclusion is "This person is dishonest"? If you think that, then there's nothing I can say that will give you more insight. There's nothing to be gained from the conversation.

It's always "leftists" that get the blame when a dem loses, not the centrists that the dems are consistently failing to reach, and definitely not the candidates themselves. Banish the thought!
