Students from North Carolina A&T can be seen marching back to their HBCU after voting on the first day of early voting in the state. The Guilford County Board of Elections voted to remove the school’s on-campus polling site. (video via Todd Simmons) greensboro.com/news/local/g...

I will forever be a LyX Guy but the new features on Overleaf are pretty sweet. For example, the Library: docs.overleaf.com/citing-and-r...
I crafted a beautiful "he's a shaky econometrician anyway" joke but then made the mistake of checking the paper and that RR was Roberto Rigobon. www.jstor.org/stable/3211805 Never check your facts, kids.

It's quite a high bar and must dramatically narrow the range of competent economists if you can't have criticized Trump's economic policies.

Hey #EconSky, I have been working on a proposal for a new class, which got me thinking back to this star-studded thread and my conversation therein with (the generous and patient) @paulgp.com This in turn lead me to wonder: is there a good JEL-style review article on design-based inference?
This paper by @jmwooldridge.bsky.social looks promising: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti... However, I fear that the more J. Econometrics on the syllabus, the less likely I am to convince the curriculum committee that this is an applied class and does not duplicate our econometrics offerings.
Congratulations Thommy Tillis.
Oh fuck. I know pediatricians in PA & since RFK Jr came to power their work lives have often been painful as they've faced parents persuaded by RFK Jr not to vaccinate their kids & they worried that deaths may be coming to PA & their worries were justified. We have to stop the MAHA kookery FFS.

If I had a small fortune, I would wager it that within 10-15 years smartglasses will be completely ubiquitous and unremarkable. (This is a positive claim, not a normative judgement.)
I was at an opticians yesterday and they were selling the Ray-Ban Pervert Glasses. I'd never gotten a close look before. They are virtually visually indistinguishable from any other pair of sunglasses unless you REALLY know what to look for. Ban them immediately, what the fuck?
#Stata users and #EconSky : an update to Statacons -- version 3.1.0 includes framesets (.dtas files). Stata 18+ required. See the announcement on Statalist: www.statalist.org/forums/forum... There is also a mini-tutorial on the statacons wiki: github.com/bquistorff/s... Feedback welcome!

Once again: German universities were the envy of the world before the Nazis rose to power and took an ideological wrecking ball to the entire enterprise. If you want to know how long it took for German universities to recover… they haven’t.
It’s truly astonishing to see how comprehensively the US government is tearing down every part of the system that has made it up until now a world-leading power in science, research, and technological development. The entire world will suffer from this wanton destruction.
