I'm surprised he didn't say vaccines make you Arabic.

The Bulwark@thebulwark.com

RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

Trump pronounces "low IQ" with a hard R.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "Somalia -- 98% of the people here now from Somalia don't work. They don't have to work because they steal so much. They all have a Mercedes Benz. Low IQ and they live better than you do."

Think of how great this country would be if left-wing transgender witches were the only ones who voted.

Ted Cruz: "Right now, if you are left-wing transgender witch, you hate Donald Trump"

This post fails to mention the part where he refers to pnuemonic plague as "the pneumonia plague."

The Bulwark@thebulwark.com

Q: "Are you concerned about the current plague outbreak in Russia?" Trump: "I am…I hate to see them having it. It's a rough disease. You know, that's a disease we used to be able to control, but somehow those microbes have gotten stronger and smarter."

Worth a listen if I may say so myself.

While everyone's noticing Pete Hegseth and his insecure masculinity, now might be a good time to revisit (or hear for the first time!) our conversation about Hegseth, fragile masculinity and the whole phenomenon of VetBro culture. www.saucepodcast.com/vetbros-and-...

Everyone is 12 and has brain rot from fanboying TikTok manosphere influencers.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Hegseth: "It's worth saying again so the fake news understands it. We are no longer the woke department or the weak department. Simple translation of that -- no fatties no trannies no beardos no weirdos no wimps no radicals. Just warriors."

Remind me how things turned out for Rome?

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Hegseth: "We need students of western civilization and the pillars of our republic. Leaders who understand the faith of Jerusalem, the philosophy of anthems -- Athens. The power of Rome, and the freedom of Philadelphia circa 1776."

In 2004, Bush won by invoking the gay marriage boogeman. Then Obama won (twice) while refusing to openly support gay marriage. And then gay marriage happened anyway! That series of events left an indelible impression on Democratic strategists. The lesson is seared into their minds in perpetuity.

these dem consultants tell dems to echo right wing narratives to "take the issue off the table" but all it does is validate the right wing attack and anger center left/progressive support and make it more likely the candidate will lose

I wish you all could see how dumb the whole progressives vs centrists beef is. I'm not saying oh we must come together and be united or whatever, I'm just telling you the back-and-forth sounds more insular, tribalist and reactionary than thoughtful or constructive.

Look if it were official GOP policy to round Jews into camps and some Dem candidates were like "what if we just make them wear yellow armbands?" I'm gonna be honest I would have a lot of trouble voting for any of those Democrats. Not making an argument about strategy here, just stating how it is.

I'm just saying, obviously the candidate who wants to exterminate me is objectively worse than the one who agrees that my people are a blight on western civilization but only wants to restrict my rights a little bit. But like, think about what you're asking when you tell me to vote for that person.

When reactionaries advance some bullshit, the FIRST thing to do is identify the framing and reject it They're selling this as "trans rights vs. women's sports" when they hate both those things and want to ruin them both Accept the frame and you've lost Reject the frame and call bullshit

Bugs 🔜 MC Atlanta@bugsmaytrix.bsky.social

"fairness in women's sports" is literally just "ethics in games journalism" like this is the same thing this is part of the same playbook dawg

This is the exact equivalent of "I promise pizza parties every day if I'm elected 4th grade class president."

President Donald Trump pledged to send every American adult $5,000 if Republicans retain control of the House and Senate in the midterm elections. The promise, made at the GOP's midterm convention in Dallas, could cost over $1 trillion and would require congressional approval.

Are you saying I'd be wealthier than John D. Rockefeller in 1926, or would I have to actually *be* John D. Rockefeller in 1926?

Would you rather be you in 2026 or the richest man in the world in 1926?

Heartbreaking to hear that Gloria Steinem has died & very painful for it to happen when the world feels so poisoned by misogyny. A brilliant, generous activist who devoted her life to making the world a freer place 💔

This is where the 1% will go to restart civilization after a nuclear attack. But it for me thinking: what if the uber wealthy built these bunkers for more people — and not for nuclear attacks but for the climate crisis that will get us all — instead of trying to leave the planet?

I need some folks to know that when you say "Zionists," to many Jewish people it doesn't sound a whole lot less antisemitic than just saying "Jews." I tell you this not to accuse anyone of antisemitism, but on the assumption that you'd rather not give the appearance of it when it can be avoided.

So when people claim to be anti-Zionist or they disparage Zionists, it sounds like they're saying they oppose Israel's very existence and are at best ambivalent about the Jewish people's continued existence.

Yep, people have their own definitions of Zionism and don't seem to realize (or care) that other people understand the term differently, leading to confusion and misunderstanding. Then they repeat "I'm not antisemitic, I'm anti-Zionist," as if that clarifies things. bsky.app/profile/jere...

Also I only recently learned that Zionist is akin to ‘Jewish supremacist’ in many people’s minds when historically it’s mostly meant ‘vaguely supports a Jewish state.’

To lots of people, Zionism is simply support for Israel's existence. And many American Jews—including me—were raised to feel deeply connected to Israel and to think of it as our people's refuge, even key to our survival.

At least one dried out Sharpie marker.

Trump has managed to finally be directly, personally at fault for a bunch of ugly economic & social indicators that voters (usually irrationally) blame presidents for.

New in PN: Why Trump deserves all the blame for high gas prices "No POTUS has ever deserved to be hoisted on the petard of gas prices more. That’s not only bc of how he weaponized the issue before, but bc unlike almost every other POTUS, he's actually responsible for where the price is right now."
