a nice ircv3 extension would be ATProto identification, and servers would make a mask from the DID and set your nick to your handle (you can probably override this but not to a domain). 🧵

I think you'll still have to set up a password or key with the server, although the key stuff can probably be transparently handled by clients. I imagine an app that feels like Discord to the end user, that you just sign in with your ATProto account. 🧵

MS Office's new app icons are. Well, they would look good, apart from the fact they completely miss the point of what they're supposed to symbolize. OneDrive should be puffy rather than flowy; it's a cloud. OneNote shouldn't chop the bottom of the first page; it's supposed to be a tabbed notebook. 🧵

Last but not least, Teams looks like the people are conjoined twins. What the hell, no, they're supposed to be different people working together. PowerPoint's similarly misses the mark. The layers on Word's seem like they're supposed to represent lines of text on a page, so that one's probably fine.

The whole #chatmail thing bugs me, because for one, yeah it's great to try to push encryption, but at the same time, we're only using (decentralized) email now because we've used it for a long time before. It only changes in response to corporate catastrophies, in ways like DKIM and SPF. 🧵

The nice part is, if they haven't added support for it by now, it'll be one of the things on my list for ThetaChat's fork of chatmail-core, along with things like pinned messages. Some changes I'd want made need to be done server-side though, which will take much more coordination. 🧵

Basically, even though they say it's compatible with broader email, you have to link DeltaChat to a real email account for that to be remotely true. And now you have to go out of your way to do that since they're onboarding everyone to mandatory-encryption chatmail servers. 🧵
