MeshBlend is finally here! ๐Ÿฅณ So proud to finally release what I've been working on for 16 months! MeshBlend brings next generation blending to Unreal. Easy to use, fast and great quality! Available on Fab for #UE5 now! #gamedev #unrealengine

Lots of stuff work fine on a flat plane. A sphere is the true test! ๐Ÿ˜† I feel POM gets a bad rep since the default UE5 version breaks down if you combine it with tri-planar mapping or other techniques. Not FPOM though ๐Ÿ‘€ #gamedev #techart

Really excited to finally release FPOM! ๐Ÿฅณ It's a Parallax Occlusion Mapping shader I made with the goal of having an alternative for Nanite Displacement that looks good for a fraction of the cost. Works with Landscape, Mesh Terrain, Meshes, Decals etc. fab.com/listings/f56... #gamedev

Always been annoyed that nanite displacement is relative to the scale of the mesh, so I fixed it! This engine change allows me to have different scales on the meshes without any issues. The meshes are then blended with MeshBlend to make it look like one surface. #gamedev

MeshBlend & World Aligned Materials is too good! ๐Ÿคฉ Testing a workflow where I only have one material instance per surface type. That then goes on any mesh. Blending the seams between the meshes to create a seamless surface. Amazing to just play around with the variations! #gamedev #unrealengine

Ever noticed how Subnautica 2 has almost no seams? In the sand, on the rocks, in the cave walls. None! Check it out next time you are swimming around! ๐Ÿ‘€ Being able to say I had something to do with this game has been such an honor!

Here's the April update to the technique. The main new addition is the use of a procedural flow map to inform brush stroke length and direction.

I like both of these games! Maybe you will as well!

Announcing The Starless Expanse Bundle, which pairs the critically acclaimed titles Riven & Outer Wilds - two games featuring puzzling worlds that will linger long after the credits roll. https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/72377/Starless_Expanse_Bundle/

2 years ago MeshBlend was born! ๐ŸŽ‚๐Ÿฅณ Not on purpose, but a random message on the Visual Tech Art discord server. @makkon.bsky.social was there, and something about his "introduce yourself" post piqued my interest. Amazed how many talented people I've met on online the last couple of years! ๐Ÿคฉ

Most of the MeshBlend showcases I make are to highlight the blending. But in real-world use it's often used more as a "seam remover". Here are some amazing in-game screenshots of Beautiful Light using MeshBlend to make the world feel more cohesive! ๐Ÿคฉ #gamedev

Landscapes with overhang. What is this magic? ๐Ÿ‘€ Mesh Terrain in UE 5.8 is shaping up nicely! Really like that I can have sculpt layers that I can then move, rotate and resize. #UE5 #gamedev

I've just released the newest update to my Unreal Engine level editor called Scythe. Here's what's new... ๐Ÿงต

It's winter and I wanted to blend some snow!โ˜ƒ๏ธ Turning the Dark Ruins sample project into a snowy landscape took much less time than expected! Plugins used: EasySnow & MeshBlend #gamedev

So many possibilities when the meshes just melts together! Blend nearly everything you can imagine! Your workflow will change for the betterโœจ PS: MeshBlend and MeshPack are both on the Fab Friday Mega sale! #gamedev #indiedev

While I'm most known now for my Unreal Engine chops, I'm also fairly seasoned in traditional Feature VFX, so here is my long overdue Feature VFX Reel Update! As stated before, I'm avaliable from mid Dec! #VFX #VisualEffects

MeshBlend 2.0 is out! ๐Ÿฅณ It now supports UE5 new Fast Geometry Streaming and the plugin is even easier to setup and use than before. Amazing to hear from all the teams using MeshBlend in their upcoming titles! Really enjoyed Unreal Fest Stockholm! For more info meshblend.lervik.com #ue5 #gamedev

How to make branches and decoration feel like one natural looking tree in UE5 ๐Ÿ‘€ Use vertex color to mask out the seams. Then use MeshBlend to drive the blending between the different parts of the same mesh. #gamedev

Performance is important and a big part of #gamdev. So how does MeshBlend fair in real projects? Wanted to show a clip from the Dark Ruins Megascans project with blending on everything! ~0.07 ms on Low and ~0.16 ms on the high quality meshblend-preset on my Gaming PC More here meshblend.lervik.com

Our brain is incredible at detecting edges, to the point where too much visual clutter makes it harder for players to focus on what matters. Blending meshes isn't always about making it look good but helping the important stuff "pop". Used MeshBlend + "Find edges" filter to visualize #gamedev #ue5
