Another thing about fraternities is that the hazing rituals where slightly older young men would physically, mentally emotionally and sometimes even sexually abuse slightly younger young men have always disturbed and upset me greatly. And it’s really telling that I’ve seen men defend those too

Tbf it also exists to subject men to ritualized abuse in order to irreparably bond them to each other so that they won’t blow the whistle on all the raping

if you’re a dude thinking “i’ve never done anything disgusting” (citations needed) then you’ve more than likely sat there quietly while your friend did something disgusting or bragged about doing something disgusting. you cannot absolve yourself.

i hope that men notice how whenever a rape story gets widespread coverage, women use it as an opportunity to vent about how fucking disgusting we think many of you are and how many have made our lives measurably worse, and take a few moments to deeply process that.
