I hope you all enjoy THE LAST KISS as much as we did. It is one of best slashers films of the last few years and doing some really compelling stuff about experiencing collective tragedy and the strength of best friends.

NEW EP: THE LAST KISS (2026) FINAL DESTINATION meets ... every movie ever covered on the pod? Fresh, frisky, and a hell of a lot of fun. Save this slasher from VOD hell and watch it with your friends! THANK US LATER!!! Listen wherever you get your podcasts!

I have seen THE DEVILS before. Of course I have, Ken Russell is one of the best to ever do it. But this, complete version? It is simply one of the best movies ever made and it is astounding that this ever actually got made in the first place AND that we are seeing it in 2026. I love it so much.

*An on-screen character makes small talk about the weather* Internet moviegoing community: "You see, the filmmaker is clearly commenting on the new normal & impacts of climate change through the exhausted banality we face each day as it is impossible, as humans, NOT to be affected by the weather."

I did not remember to bring up that, in the event of a bear attack, your best chance of survival is to fall back with a spear so that the bear is impaled by its own weight and is unable to get up. Incidentally, that is how the psycho driller dies in the movie, who is not a bear. Just saying...

NEW EP: THE SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE (1982) A low-budget classic; never forget that we were deconstructing the male gaze and gender's relationship with slashers over 40 years ago. Grab your drill and order pizza because it's time for THE SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE. Listen wherever you get your podcasts!

talked about this before and again, i'm speaking as a third generation journeyman trades worker, but working in trades is not something that any of the people who write these pieces, or honestly most of you, respect at all. It's perceived as something you do when all the "good" options are gone.

I know we say this a lot when someone dies, but I mean this, nobody said a bad word about PAC ever. And he's swam some shark invested waters in the last 25 years. Yet he was so admired and liked by his peers and the fanbase. God, his poor mother.

Regional context: Taylor Swift's new song "Cleveland!" is specifically about moving to the Heights, a suburban, boujee area with many inhabitants to match. This is fitting for a song that sounds like a commercial jingle.

All of the various heights around the city are all kind of snotty (sans Parma Heights I guess). This includes Shaker Heights, where MGK is from while, once upon a time ago, trying to establish himself as hard and from the streets.

Lots of realizations in this episode but one of the most significant ones for me is that I am not tired of superheroes as much as I am tired of redundancy. SKY HIGH is great because it has the freedom to play with the tropes of the genre without being bound to exhausted source material.

NEW EP: SKY HIGH (2005) We’re going up, up, and examining the way Disney's non-Marvel superhero movie is the perfect exploration of the cruel hierarchy of high school that doubles as an allegory for coming out. Warren Peace stans, this episode's for you. Listen wherever you get your podcasts!

YOUR NAME. is so unbelievably touching, tremendously successful, and ever so beautiful to look at, and yet, it just hasn't seemed to have broken containment outside of anime and into the wider world of film or North America in general. I hope this episode urges more people to fall in love with it.

NEW EP: YOUR NAME. (10th Anniversary) The Wives Colangelo cover a lot of body-swap movies on this podcast, but YOUR NAME. is arguably the best one ever to do it. Let's explore what it means for two teenagers to body-swap across time, space, and gender. Listen wherever you get your podcasts!

People often ask me why I don't write more and the answer is that I never pitch. That's my bad. Every opportunity I have been given is because the quality of my existing work is evident. They reach out to me because they WANT to see me write more. I just think that is kind and wonderful of them.

Hi Blayne, long time muter, first time caller. Hate to bring this to my yard but I see your comments are off. As a trans person with a similarly sized following on the internet, is it punching down to tell you that have no idea what you are talking about and should stop talking out of your ass?

always mystified by the suggestion that Gen Z and younger were the ones who disrespectfully turned 9/11 into a meme. i was at a school in NJ where classmates lost parents, didn't know if my own dad was okay, you could see Ground Zero from a nearby hill, and the lads were cracking jokes by lunchtime

I feel like SAVE THE LAST DANCE would get both better and worse on repeated viewings. Just rocking with a single experience however... this is a movie in two parts that blend about as well as the dance number from it's climax.

NEW EP: SAVE THE LAST DANCE (25th Anniversary) Chosen by the Patreon Prom Party, a movie remembered more for its memes than its message! Let's dissect a film everyone seems to remember loving but might not feel the same way about 25 years later. Listen wherever you get your podcasts!

BJ calling from the other room, 1 year ago: "Charlie Kirk got shot." Me: "Is he dead?" BJ: "If not yet then he's gonna be soon. There's a high def video." Me, with the same tamber as a dad in a La-Z Boy: "Alright, I'm getting up..."
