I want to ask reporters what else exactly they want from Beth Upton. They wanted her booted out of female changing rooms, they got it. They wanted her on trial for misconduct, they got it, she was found totally blameless. They wanted her publicly named and shamed in the media, they got it…

Good thread on Schengen in context of Rejoin

Thinking about the practicalities - the four freedoms make sense as a package because the movement of goods and services are facilitated by movement of capital and labour. And countries have different endowments and comparative advantages, so there needs to be benefits for all.

If Labour wasn't dominated by cowards and right-wingers, they would have taken serious action to sort the BBC out by now. The Tories weren't subtle about stuffing it with their people. Now we're at a point where any expression of support for marginalised groups is seen as unacceptable.

5:0… these scores keep coming... I was in the away crowd at Selhurst Park years ago when the chant of ‘Seagulls’ started up as a riposte to ‘Eagles’ (they rhyme more or less in South London). Before that, Brighton were Dolphins (for heraldic reasons – never worked!) www.bbc.com/sport/footba...

This is good: PP is definitely stuttering. When I heard Feijóo pre-empting victory the other day, I couldn’t help thinking of Neil Kinnock in Sheffield in 1992.

"That's what has got us into this position that we're in, where we've turned away from things that we should have dealt with." Andy Burnham responds to Plaid Cymru MP Ben Lake's question, saying we need to decide where we want to take this country in the next decade.

Brexit has added costs, delays, and uncertainty to British businesses. If we want investment and growth, we must seek a closer relationship with the EU. #folkestone #hythe #romneymarsh #europe #brexit

The Sorolla Museum in Madrid reopens tomorrow at long last. Some views here of the immersive exhibition ‘Sorolla, una nova dimensió’ in 2023. Perfect capture of the Valencian shoreline and Albufera.

Border reconfigured. Two vehicle lanes directly into Spain from Gibraltar, bypassing the closed-off ‘Loop’, which is earmarked for use as a public transport interchange

Also obvious and often forgotten: underlying maths here changed. A lot of people still analyse politics of Brexit as if the split in the public is still 52/48, with leave both an overall majority and more efficiently spread, with most seats majority Leave. None of that true now

When I say the politics will become increasingly obvious... I mean look at this. If you want to unite the left/centre and split the Tories, without a big spending committment there's no better option.

I’ve spent a week testing rice varieties for basic home-cooked paella: the winner is J Sendra by a wide margin, for its creamy interior and great socarrat. Albufera (a cross of Sénia and Bomba) is a good choice for fiestas, when you want the grain to hold up, but maybe not so much for the kitchen.

This is a strong and thought-provoking piece. I’ve been aware of divergent attitudes to Israel on either side of the Irish Sea since I visited the tiny Jewish museum in south Dublin, testament to a vanished community

Impressive ice well in Fuendetodos, birthplace of Goya. One of ~1000 in Aragón, Catalonia, Valencia, Murcia Built during Little Ice Age (C16-19th). Were big business in Eastern Spain. Ice collected over winter in sierras, stored+shipped to cities until early C20th when technology rendered obsolete

Agree the Garvaghy Road dispute has the potential to bring down power-sharing. And ‘gesture of tribal superiority’ - that’s what it looks like. This is the most contentious march in NI. How did the Parades Commission reach such a determination?
