My review of The Drama is that I’ve never watched anything where the characters’ coffee cups were more obviously empty throughout.

I feel like the debate about what parts of AI are good and what parts are bad should wait until we solve the worldwide crisis caused by the fact that almost of all of its evangelists in both tech and govt are morally, intellectually, and ethically unequipped to oversee it, when not downright evil.

Will Oremus@willoremus.com

feels like there is a group of smart and well-intentioned people who long ago made up their minds that AI Is Bad, swore off using it, and now get all their info about AI from each other. not saying they're wrong that ai is bad! but i think they're gradually losing touch with what it is and does

There were so many more teens and tweens out and about in my neighborhood this summer thanks to e-bikes. Heck, there were even more kids out on regular bikes. It was great.

This is a somewhat hot take but I agree with this article overall. We need to be having a more serious conversation about what micro mobility offers and how to build that up than just slamming it all as a menace or looking to restrict and ban it.

I'm excited to announce that I added a new page to my website with a list of all the Hindi movies on Zee5 in the US! I'll add films in more Indian languages over time, but there are more than 1,000 Hindi films listed already. Please check it out: accessbollywood.net/bollywood-mo... #DesiWatch

Portillo’s was doomed the second they sold to private equity. All it took to lose me as a customer was something as simple as replacing their brewed iced tea with Gold Peak fountain swill. These layoffs won’t fix anything.

The chain known for Chicago-style hot dogs and Italian beef sandwiches has roughly 140 employees at its corporate headquarters.

A little on-the-nose of this moth to land on my copy of Bird by Bird as I sit at a park reading the section on paying attention to the world around us.

This article needs to be read by every current or aspiring screenwriter. No more in medias res intros followed by the inevitable “24 hours earlier…” card. They suck! “My biggest objection… is that it treats me like I'm an idiot who has to be tricked into a story.”

The new Korean comedy HUSBANDS IN ACTION on Netflix is awesome. Just a silly, fun movie with an amazing cast, especially Jeon So-min as the lovelorn reporter.

some dope earlier this week tried to gaslight people by saying the pushback on AI mirrors the pushback when the internet went mainstream and no it fucking does not! people were excited about the internet! ffs it wasn’t 100 years ago, a lot of us were THERE

Good morning! It is May 7th in the United Socialist States of America. Today we commemorate the Day of the City. Preserve and empower our urban centers! We celebrate the blue jay, cyanocitta cristata. Gene Wolfe was born today in 1931; Steve Albini died on this day in 2024.

On top of all other reasons this is dumb and won’t happen, you’d no longer have the ability to talk about media with people. I’d want to hear about people’s AI movies less than I want to hear about their dreams—which is not at all. But since one of AI’s goals is isolation, guess this is a feature.

A new season of the video game DIABLO IV started tonight, so I went to the town of Kyovashad for the final 5 minutes of the old season. Now I know what it'd be like if the end of the world was imminent -- just me and some fellow goofballs spinning in circles until we got sent to the Eternal Realm.

You have more in common with the people of Iran than you do with anyone in this administration, any member of the technocracy, anyone who is profiting from this war, or any billionaire. When you see Iranians forming human chains outside key infrastructure sites, you should feel a sense of kinship.
