Hi! I'll properly introduce myself. I'm Henrieke, an artist from the Netherlands who LOVES animals, comics and animation. I've done/do work for Disney Comics, Bommel & Tom Puss, Looney Tunes Cartoons, Woezel & Pip and others. Once in a blue moon I also make puppets, costumes and sculptures.

Seeing Eric's face on the national evening news in the Netherlands is surreal for all the wrong reasons :( It also is very telling that among all the news going on around the world, it's him who gets featured in a broadcast halfway across the planet where English isn't even the first language.

I’m completely shellshocked and can barely even begin to think. Eric Bauza was always so sweet and encouraging to me in all the times we talked together, he’d leave such kind encouraging comments on my art and knew I loved his Daffy enough to sing happy birthday to me in his voice.

My first professional voice gig, I got to share the booth with Bauza, him as Bugs and me as Beaky. I was so nervous, so scared... and then he came into the booth with me, reassured me, told me I'd do better than okay, and for that half hour I felt like I really could be good enough for him.

People are sharing all sorts of stories of Bauza on the picket lines fighting for artists and standing up for the craft of animation but I just keep thinking about the time he went to Tara Strong’s birthday and stopped by 6Point on the way home with a tray of cakepops for the artists working late

Next Saturday, on Halloween, I’m presenting an animator breakdown of Disney’s “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” (1949) on Patreon. Here’s a special treat: a music-only version of Ichabod Crane’s introductory song—you can tell how much it relies on Bing Crosby and the girl singers.

Can anyone I know at Lightbox pick up a sketchbook for me ;; Though that's a slippery slope

PHEW OKAY! good + good-eventually news! If today is any indication, we are most likely going to sell out of all 3 books by end of day tomorrow 😳 If Jellybots, the bestiary sketchbook, or especially the mural field guide were must haves for your LightBox, come early tomorrow and we’ll have em!

An incredible and beautiful book has arrived at Tet Zoo Towers... #Cryptozoology: Unknown Beasts of the World by Johan Egerkrans. Great text and gorgeous artwork. I provided a bit of advice and also wrote the foreword. On sale now :) #books

Go join the charity stream if you can! The Pieterburen seal rescue is a place that I deeply cared and raised money for as a prime school kid... I dreamed of working there when I got older. Seeing them on the cusp of shutting down due to financial hardship is really sad.

Some Raww designs from #ForgottenIsland! I was absolutely THRILLED to work on this guy! 💚 I had so much fun exploring all the little details between his weredog to human form. For Raww's dog form I referenced the Aspin (formerly Askal) but specifically the Philippine Forest Dog, or "asong gubat."

EXCELLENT CHOICE.

Several weeks ago, Phil Tippett's legendary animation studio in Berkeley, CA closed. An anonymous hero noticed a folder of CDs. This turned out to be hundreds of unseen hi-res images and videos from Star Wars, Robocop, Jurassic Park, etc. ~90 isos for you to browse: archive.org/details/tipp...

Getting asked to give a presentation together with Tim Artz about our work to the entire design team of Efteling is one of the coolest things I ever got to do, and honestly something I should actually brag more about

Lucky we started out with Baron (front row!), as it was down soon after for the rest of the day. Danse Macabre unfortunately down as well, one day I'll get to ride it! But I got to do front row Joris & De Draak so I'm happy. It's pretty much my favorite thing ever

Been busy today with putting some of each of the pin designs I got in so far on backing cards, so I can sell the leftover stock in person. This isn't even half of them yet, I'm pretty happy with how they look on a rack like this! I'm working on getting pre-orders shipped out as soon as possible!

“Fast and Furry-ous”, the debut cartoon of Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote, was released on this day in 1949. Chuck Jones and Michael Maltese introduced one of the best cartoon chase duos ever put to screen. #LooneyTunes #CoyotevsACME

I still feel robbed that the few WB shorts I did get to see as a kid all had atrocious dubs. I think the only Mel Blanc I heard as a kid was Heathcliff (if I don't misremember that being subbed rather than dubbed), and maybe some Barney Rubble

Jacob Geller@jacobgeller.com

Mel Blanc screams are like Greek fire, we lost the technology to make sounds like this

I vastly preferred the Disney characters over Looney Tunes as a kid, but... on the LT side I had like 6 poorly dubbed shorts, Space Jam and 90s 'cool tough boys' merch, and on the Disney side I had classic shorts on TV every day and comics by Carl Barks, Gottfredsson and everyone who followed them.
